Just a few minutes into La Paz bay you will search and swim with one or more whale sharks, guided by a local marine biologist who will share lots of interesting information about this species. On whale shark tours, we allow maximum 9 people per boat so we can offer you can have a comfortable and personalized experience.
This activity is probably the most special in the area, and La Paz is on the top 3 worlwide spots to do whale shark snorkeling tours. That's why the activity is highly regulated by the Government and us, tour operators, to ensure its protection and hopefully they'll keep coming back every year. Freediving is not allowed due to Federal regulations, only snorkeling in the surface
In case of bad weather forecast, we will let you know 2-3 days in advance. In some cases the waves can be moderate causing a choppy ride, and on other days with high winds, the bay may be closed officially to all boat tours

La Paz
This is a very special tour since La Paz is one of the only spots in the world where we can enjoy the whale sharks in a sustainable and conscious way, that's why the Government has several rules in order to protect them. The whale shark area is restricted to only 14 boats at the time, thus we get turns assigned every day. On average, we get the turn we requested 95% of the time, but some times we get a later turn on the day, or in a worst case, we don't get a turn at all (this is very unlikely, the last season this happened only on 2 tours out of 200+) so we ask you kindly to be reachable on your phone or email that you provided us when booking, because in any of this cases we need to inform you the day before, that is when we know which turn we got. Please make sure either the contact email or phone you provided us is reachable during your stay in La Paz in case we need to contact you before the tour for a change of schedule.

5.00Although it is hard to get on this trip, due to regulations and restrictions, it was fun and a great crew. The tour operator did everything to get us out there. It is amazing to see these fish in the wild. Definitively worth it,

5.00It was a truly beautiful experience. Our guide, a marine biologist and the boat operator did such a wonderful job. Finding a whale sharks in the zone, and helping us to swim by them, giving us a beautiful experience It's really exciting to be in the water with these animals and I really appreciated the knowledge and warmth of our guides. So much fun!

5.00Very easy to book the tour, timely confirmation and follow up. Only 9 people on the boat which is great. Equipment was all good. Michelle is a wonderful host and guide and Alejandro, our captain, is great! Amazing experience swimming with the whale sharks and we highly recommend.

5.00The tour and everything around it was just perfect. We had an excellent tour guide, (Carla). She had a lot of exciting information. She literally takes you by the hand and helps everyone personally get the most out of the tour. Also, great care was taken to ensure that the whales are well! We noticed this particularly positively. Also the size of the group of 10 people is ideal!

5.00Cannot recommend whale shark snorkeling enough! Core memories were definitely made on this activity and still can’t go over seeing these amazing creatures in the wild. We had a wonderful guide, Karla, and captain, Danny and fellow group members. Karla is a marine biologist who was very knowledgeable about marine animals (and birds!) and made sure that we and the whale sharks were safe and we all had time with the whale sharks! We were able to see two at different points of the trip - both were feeding, which was really cool to witness. Karla was also nice enough to take pictures and videos of all of us swimming with the whale shark and send them to the group! A couple of tips: - if you can, prepare by doing A LOT of cardio. Whale sharks swim fast, and you’ll need to swim quite quickly to keep up! You can of course stop if you’re tired, but you’ll want the most out of the experience! - Wear the life jacket, it helps conserve energy so you don’t have to tread water for when you’re waiting for the boat to come pick you up - Pay attention which direction the guide tells you to swim in! Karla helped save us time by telling us to swim in a certain direction (instead of towards her) so we can time our swim with the whale shark (also, in general, pay attention to your guide! It can be chaotic with the swapping of group members in and out of the water.
