Sarapiqui River

We have a perfect outdoor adventure for those who seek to feel an extra dose of adrenaline. Rafting Class 4 level is recommended for paddlers with some experience, people able to swim and float on a rapid in case of need. After driving less than one hour through rural areas, plantations, and towns, you will reach the entry point of the Sarapiquí River, where the safety gear and a safety explanation. Our experienced guides combined with a well-synchronized team will experience together the emotions produced by the turbulent waters while the waves break over the bow, causing a splash that gets everybody wet.

Amazing Experience!! The river was beautiful. Offered a challenging but exciting experience. Our guides were awesome as well. Adrian kept us safe on the river and entertained throughout the trip. Cinya (sorry if I spelled her name wrong) was a great driver. Getting us to and from the river safely and quickly. I would recommend this trip to anyone looking for a thrill

Absolutely phenomenal experience! Exhilarating fun but also very safe. Our guide, Adrian, was humorous and hospitable. He also pointed out wildlife and birds along the way. I absolutely recommend!

We went whitewater rafting with Adrian as our guide. The rapids were incredible and Adrian was an experienced, safe, and perfect guide. This was an unforgettable experience, best service and guiding out there, and the icing on the cake was the delicious farm to table lunch. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an adventure.

Jorge (driver) and Adrian (rafting guide) from Jacamar picked us up at the Tabacon resort with a smile and a few laughs! They were both fantastic throughout the day. Pablo was amazing with the camera and helped us on the river. I would request Adrian and his team time and time again! They were very knowledgeable about the flora, fauna and kept a keen eye out for birds, howler monkeys and sloths! We saw all of the above!! Super accommodative as we wanted to stop a bit a few extra beers (several were provided along with water, lunch and some light snacks. You will not go hungry!) jacamar typically has smaller groups and a more bespoke experience from what we gathered. Other companies had huge groups, less maneuverable rafts and seemed to encounter a lot traffic! We dodged most of it, and had a 5* experience from beginning to end. 10/10 Do it!!!!

Our group of four chose the white water rafting experience on July 12. The river was somewhat challenging, but each of us agreed that it was incredibly fun and we would do it again. Our guide Adrian was exceptional in every way. His expertise made us all feel at ease and we could not have been in better hands. Adrian is certainly an asset to Jacamar Tours...Well done!

Everything about this experience was fantastic. We were picked up from our hotel by Cristian and Jose, and they went out of their way to be informative, interesting and friendly hosts. Cristian has movie star good looks to go with a charming personality, but all the girls in La Fortuna kept staring at Jose! Cristian accompanied our raft in a separate kayak, kept a watchful eye on us to make sure we were safe, and took 101 seriously good action photos which we were able to purchase for only $30US. The guy steering our boat was Jeffrey, and once he knew we were competent, he put us through the fastest and scariest rapids. This is not an adventure for the faint hearted! You’re going to get wet, and you’re going to look at some of the rapids and wonder how you’re going to make it! But in the few quiet moments between adrenaline charged rapids, Jeffrey made sure we knew everything about the river, the wildlife, and the ecology of the region. The entire adventure was perfect, and I couldn’t recommend the entire team more highly!

James was our tour guide and he was very professional — he made the tour very fun and exciting. The driver picked us up at the hotel and gave us a great overview on the way to the river. I highly recommend it.

White water rafting in the Sarapiqui River was fantastic and our favorite outdoors activity in the La Fortuna area! Our guide Pablo E. clearly has a lot of pride for the area and gave us a tour of the local landscape during our ride. He was also very funny! The rafting was thrilling and fun (level 3/4) and it was just the two of us along with Pablo and Roman, the other guide who took pictures. The water was not too cold and we had a snack in the middle. Cannot recommend the experience enough!

Rafting with James was fantastic. Very professional, safety first. As an experienced rafter this was a fun trip. Not too challenging, but certainly worth going. If you want more of an adrenaline rush wait a few more weeks for the rainy season to kick in. Our photographer Jeffery kayaked ahead and took some great photos of our boat coming through the whitewater. Something you can’t do on your own. A delicious lunch to finish the trip. I totally recommend Jacamar.
