Kaituna Cascades was the original company to explore and start rafting the Kaituna River, and is still locally owned and operated by two current raft guides - so you know you'll be in great hands!!
No where in the world can you raft down such a beautiful river that drops into a vertical walled canyon filled with raftable waterfalls and countless playful rapids. The water is deep and warm (most of the year) and is usually a highlight of peoples visit to NZ. All of our guides are handpicked, highly skilled professionals that come from an extreme whitewater background in Kayaking and Rafting. We will give you the safest and most entertaining trip on the river!

Join us for the most unique and beautiful whitewater rafting experience in New Zealand! The famous Kaituna River is a rafters dream – a 50 minute action packed ride down 11 epic rapids, 3 wild waterfalls – One of which is the highest rafted waterfall in the world at 7 meters. All of this in a deep, usually warm water jungle canyon! All this with our legendary guides & you’ve got yourself the perfect day out! This is an exciting GRADE 5 RAFTING EXPERIENCE. We have a weight limit of 120 kgs and minimum age of 13yrs old - up to 65 years of age Our sweet Rafting Base in Okere Falls is in an awesome sunny location, surrounded by a scenic reserve and backs onto the shores of the Kaituna. We are the closest and most accessible company to the river. The native scenic reserve has a beautiful walking trail which you can view many rapids of the Kaituna River & there is even an amazing café around the corner. This makes for a great half day trip out to this stunning region of Rotorua. Also please note – This is an exciting GRADE 5 RAFTING EXPERIENCE and is NOT SUITED FOR OLDER OR BIGGER PEOPLE, or people that aren’t comfortable in the water. We have a weight limit of 120 kgs.

5.00This experience was great. While it was not an intense rapid experience it was waterfalls in a raft experience- or sometimes out of the raft! My life was in Flynn’s expert hamds and I survived! The team at Kaituna Rafting were experienced, accommodating, and fun!

5.00I recently enjoyed a tour with Kaituna Cascades, which included venturing over three waterfalls and several cascades along the Kaituna River. The instructions before setting off were very clear, and we even had the chance to practice on the water before the real excitement began—well done to Dan for making everyone feel confident and prepared. Going over the waterfalls was a true bucket-list experience, and we also had the opportunity to swim over some of the cascades, which added to the fun. I would absolutely recommend this company and this tour. It’s a real highlight for anyone visiting Rotorua.

5.00Four of us mates were keen to do something that would properly get the blood pumping and Kaituna Cascades White Water Rafting absolutely delivered. Being New Year’s Eve we half expected them to be shut, so we were stoked to see bookings open and running. From the get go the crew were unreal. Big shoutout to our skipper Dan, absolute legend. From the moment we jumped in the raft we felt in safe hands. This is not a Disneyland ride and that’s what makes it so good. Expect real drops, hard paddling, bumps, spills and a proper adrenaline rush. It was all of our first time white water rafting and we were heading straight into Grade 5 rapids, including the famous 7 metre waterfall. Safe to say we were nervous. Dan ran us through the safety briefing beforehand and made it interactive, clear and confidence building. Not one of those long boring talks you forget five minutes later. He explained exactly what to do in different situations and made sure everyone felt ready. One of our group fell out at the last waterfall and got sucked under for a moment. She popped back up quickly and was totally fine, just a bit rattled. Honestly that’s part of what makes it such a buzz. We also had a mother and daughter rafting with us who were first timers and pretty nervous, but they absolutely smashed it and were laughing the whole way. It really shows this is an awesome all rounder for friends and families. If you can swim, listen to instructions and are keen to push yourself a bit, just do it. It will test you, but the team look after you so well. If you’ve got mates visiting from overseas and want to show them something properly New Zealand, jump online, book it and send it. You’ll have lifetime memories. And Dan, you’re a bloody legend mate

5.00This was my second time with Kaituna White Water Rafting, and it was just as incredible as the first—if not better! The whole team was professional, friendly, and made the experience fun and safe from start to finish. A huge shoutout to Jared, who was an awesome guide—super knowledgeable, confident, and full of great energy. He made sure everyone felt comfortable while still keeping the adrenaline high. Going down the Kaituna waterfall never gets old! Highly recommend to anyone visiting kaituna white river rafting Rotorua, whether it’s your first time or your second (or third!)—I’ll definitely be back again.

5.00Returned here after 20 + years, and it is still an epic experience. You can book a whole raft (6 people) and get a discount. The photo package for $50 is a must . Three big waterfalls but the rest of it is much more fun. Ask for Dan, the Irish, man !

5.00My friends and I had an absolute blast white water rafting experience. From the moment we got on the raft, it was non-stop fun, laughter, and pure adrenaline. We couldn’t stop smiling the entire time! A huge shoutout to our guide, Jasper, who made the whole experience unforgettable. He kept the energy high, made sure we felt safe, and turned every moment into something exciting. We had so much fun that we’re already talking about when we can do it again. If you’re thinking about trying white water rafting—DO IT. This was hands down one of the best adventures we’ve had! We’ll definitely be back for round two!

5.00We had an amazing time! The workers were fun, friendly and helpful. We had the fantastic ‘Dan’ as our guide and he made our experience one to remember. He was a super funny guy too. Thanks Dan! Definitely worth it!
