Wilpattu National Park is one of the beautiful national parks in Sri Lanka located in the Intermediate Zone which having both wet & dry climatic seasons. Also its uniqueness of having Freshwater villus gives evergreen lush forests throughout the year. The park it self consists of iconic Sri Lankan Leopards and Sloth Bears along with the gentle giants, Asian Elephants-specially the males who are loners. Not only the mammals, the birds with both migrants and natives (season from November to April). As a company, Experiential Traveller-Sri Lanka, we organize the safari with ethical and responsible travel practices. We try our best to minimize our disturbance to the wildlife and always respect the animals. Also we maintain a proper distance in front of sightings and make sure to not to rush and drive fast inside the park and maintain proper speed limit according to the park rules. The guests should aware as it is not a zoo, the wildlife sightings are not been guaranteed in these safaris.

4.00Driver was very nice and profissional. Did a big effort to find elephants and we manage to see many. The park was very busy but our driver knew all the spots and roads. The park should control the amount of Jeeps that enter, it feels that it can be a little bit overwhelming for the elephants

4.00We visited here on our private tour of Sri Lanka as this was included in the original ( suggested ) itinerary. The Jeep (. 4 x4 ) was quite high with a ladder at the back to get into it ….not the easiest I have to say for a senior citizen ….but got there! The trip was good …. The guide and the driver were both very quick to spot any wildlife and birds . A very enjoyable afternoon. Saw a family of black bears . Disappointed we didn’t see elephants, but hey ho,,, they are apparently more active at night ! … confirmed by the electric fences around houses in the area having been erected to stop them ransacking their garden at night . Tip 1)- Do not wear white trousers as the soil is red due to iron oxide and the bottoms of my trousers were very messy with climbing in and out of the vehicle with the soil on the ladder ! I know from previous experience this is difficult to remove from white trousers ! 2) bring a snack with you … it’s a long tour with nothing available en route …… we hadn’t eaten since breakfast and were in need of something

5.00Our guide Suranga was really knowledgeable and great at searching for and spotting all the animals! Some of the animals we got to see included elephants, crocodiles, water buffalo, deer, and a leopard! Also kept safe distances from animals - didn’t chase or try get too close to animals which we appreciated. Also a great park for a safari as it’s relatively quiet (not packed with tourists). Had a very good lunch provided as well.

5.00We went to Yala National Park with Ash as our naturalist guide & host at Leopard camp covering 4 safaris over 2 days. Really appreciated Ash’s wide ranging knowledge of the flora & fauna of the park & how he made sure we saw different areas of the park. Ash was super organised & worked really well with the driver to give us the best shot of seeing different animals each time-we were lucky enough to see two leopards, a sloth bear and lots of elephants (amongst loads of other birds & other animals)-big smiles all round! Would highly recommend.
