Start this 2-hour tour by getting geared up for the cold weather. You’ll then head into the dog yard and play with the dogs while the staff harnesses up the team. After a little instruction, you’ll take off for about an hour on a 6.5-mile trail, with a stop halfway to take photos of Mt. Denali if it’s visible. You’ll take turns driving the sled (with an experienced musher on hand!). Then return back for some cocoa and cuddling with retired sled dogs.
Overseeing the operation are Rohn and Alyssa Buser. Rohn is a 3x Iditarod finisher and champion of multiple mid distances races. He is the son of Martin Buser, who has won the Iditarod 4 times and has the record for the most Iditarods (39 times), so Rohn literally grew up riding sleds!
The dogs of Susuitna Sled Dog Adventures are more than working dogs, they are our family. We love sharing their passion with others and hope you leave our home filled with as much admiration and respect for these amazing animals as we are.

Get ready to not only meet the dogs but also ride on a sled for a truly authentic experience, which you can do during the day or at night! You’ll learn about the tradition and sport of dogsledding, meet some fantastic dogs and explore the wilderness with them. Take an enchanting 1 hour dog sled ride through the woods and experience a bond between humans and dogs that is thousands of years old. Feel the dogs’ excitement as you pull up to the kennel and are greeted by the team. After an introduction to the dogs and instructions about riding on the sled, you and your guide will be off on a scenic 6.5 mile sled ride together. If the conditions are right, you’ll have a front row seat to some of the best Denali views in the area! Your guide will stop throughout the ride for photos, and to let you switch positions between standing and sitting on the sled. After the ride, you can take time to pet the dogs and give them lots of love. Average tour time is approximately 2 hours total. Time on the sled is around 1 hour.

5.00Had an excellent time with our son and his family on this dog sled tour. We had 8 dogs per sled with one of us standing in back, the guide standing in front of that person, and one sitting in the very front.

5.00Rhone and Joshua were the best! They were extremely social and knowledgeable. They suggested we take photos and took our family photo without being asked. They were very kind to our 5-year daughter and engaged with her. The dogs were very friendly. Would definitely recommend this family owned business!

5.00My family and I had an incredible time with the team and the dogs. It was definitely the favorite part of our Alaska trip. They provide additional layers, gloves, boots, hand/feet warmers to ensure you are comfortable and warm. The route and scenery was absolutely beautiful. The dogs were fun to interact with. Each one had their own personality.

5.00What a magical experience dog sledding with Susitna Dog Sled Adventures! We had the best time getting to know the Iditarod racing dogs and sledding through the snowy trails! Learned so much from Alyssa. She was so sweet and accommodating. Thanks for having us and would do it again in a heartbeat.

5.00Booked a tour for the new year with Rohn and his crew and had a great time despite it being about 8 below zero. They had a warming cabin on the property and allowed us to borrow a better set of boots, parka and gloves which were necessary. We were warm enough to enjoy the ride on their training course. The dogs were awesome and we learned a lot about the Iditarod race from our guide. We were able to switch up who rode on the front and back about mid way. Overall, I would recommend doing this for anyone who wants to experience dog sledding.
Wonderful experience with knowledge and friendly staff.

5.00We had such a great experience with Susitna Sled Dog Adventures! This was a bucket list item for our family and Christmas present for our boys and it did not disappoint. Rohn and his team were great and we all learned so much from our mushers. All of the dogs were gentle and loved attention from the kids. My 10 year old can’t stop talking about his experience to anyone who will listen. Beautiful views! We will all be watching and cheering for RohnToNome this year!

5.00This was the highlight of our vacation! Rohn was terrific. He went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. The hot cocoa and spiced cider after the trip were a nice surprise. It was obvious how much Rohn and his wife care for their dogs. I would recommend Susitna Sled Dog Adventures most highly!

5.00Great experience, friendly owners and mushers, dogs happy and wanting to run. Everybody welcoming, the dogs too :) We chat a lot and got interesting infos. Trail was nice, a bit slushy and watery at times as April was warmer then usual. Communication through emails was swift and helpful. Loved the whole experience!
