Throughout this tour, your guide will also be your photographer. Meaning that they will take photos of you during all of these experiences. After the tour is over, we will edit and send them to you for you to keep as a memory of your epic adventure!

In order to operate this tour we need 2 passengers minimum.

Please email your Ice Climbing experience level to [email protected] after booking: Beginner (never been on the ice before), Intermediate, or Advanced. We ask for this, so we can pair you with the perfect guide.

Please email info@icejourney is your hiking boots size if required.

Photos are edited and sent approximately 14 days after your tour.

The minimum age for this tour is 8 in the summer and 10 in the winter.

This was one of the most incredible experiences in Iceland! Eli and Antonio, our guides, we're knowledgeable and brought true connection to the experience! Ice climbing, ice caves, caribou sighting, rock searches, it will be an experience I'll remember for life!

What an amazing day with my adult son. Climbing was super fun and the caves were spectacular. All of it was made special because of our private guide Julien. He was awesome. Knew the perfect photo spots and made the day just great. Thanks Julien!

We booked two days with Icepic. The first day we did a glacier cave tour and ice climb with Claudia. She was knowledgeable about Iceland, Icelandic culture and the glacier. She explained how glaciers form, move and melt, the history of Vatnajökull as well as its future. Claudia was great with our kids (9&12) - they really loved spending the day with her. She helped them get their harnesses and crampons on properly and guided them expertly over the glacier ensuring they clipped onto the anchored ropes wherever available. When it came time for climbing, she gave the kids a thorough demonstration, made them feel safe and encouraged them to the top! It was a fantastic day. The second day we had a zip line booked, but the National Parks authorities scheduled an inspection, so we swapped for more time at the glacier and photos at the lagoon and diamond beach. Mike was our guide. He is also the co-owner of the company. His passion and enthusiasm for what he does are obvious and we loved listening to him explain the science behind his zip line (first glacier zip line in the world). He took us to the edge of the glacier to a frozen lake with icebergs and after checking the thickness of the ice, assisted our kids with their crampons. After making our way across the lake, he took some photos and then anchored a rope for us to climb one of the icebergs. He expertly explained climbing tips as well as ice science. After giving us each a couple opportunities to climb, he packed up and we drove over to diamond beach. He took lots of photos, eagerly trying to get the best angle and keep other tourists out of the background. Finally, we crossed the road to glacier lagoon for a few more photos. Mike has a great energy and our experience was incredible. The meeting point for our tours was at glacier lagoon, which was a convenient 10 minute drive from Hotel Jökulsárlón where we stayed. Please make sure you pay to park here and make use of the W.C. before your tour. I don’t yet have the professional photos from Mike and Claudia, but I’ve included a few iPhone photos here.

We had our tour with Mike and is was a pleasure! Mike and Ryan are a good communicating team. They did not only took awesome pictures of us, Ice Pic Journey also give us a opportunity to do a tour on the glaciers with our baby. They are very tolerant and organized. Keep on doing such a good job! Thank again for your effort.

Escape the crowds? CHECK. Have a great time? CHECK. Get great photos? CHECK. We spent a day on (and in) the ICE with Mike as our guide. You cannot go wrong booking any of their trips as you receive personalized treatment and YOUR journey can be tailored to YOUR needs. It's great they can adjust the experience on the fly based on what you're capable of. Mike even grabbed a belay from me, so he could run a pitch on the ice as well!
