Embarking on a journey 110 kilometers southwest of Ulaanbaatar, we visit Khustain Nuruu, a conservation area dedicated to preserving and safeguarding Mongolia's wild horses, known as takhi or Przewalski's horses. Recognized by the world's biology foundation, the takhi faced extinction in the wild. However, through collaborative efforts with international environmental agencies from 1992 to 2004, successful reintroduction programs were implemented at Khustain National Park, ensuring the revival of the Takhi population.
The financial contribution from tourism 100% is used for nature conservation. That means anyone who paid to receive the eco-tourism service (a tour company, tour guides, and travellers) can participate the nature conservation.
In addition to witnessing the iconic Takhi and diverse wildlife populations, you will enjoy Winter wonderland in Mongolia and winter of the Mongolian nomadic life

Our day in Hustai with our guide Zaya was one of the most special of our time in Mongolia. We were picked up from our hotel and enjoyed the drive through the expanse of Mongolia to the reserve with our brilliant guide Zaya telling us all we needed to know about Mongolia and the horses we were going to see. Before you get to Hustai you come off the highway and our driver expertly handled the tracks which lead to the park. We were very lucky that we managed to see the horses from not far away straight away and spent a magical few hours in their company just observing these beautiful animals. Our driver and guide Zaya did everything they could to make sure we got as much time as we could with the horses. While they can't guarantee you will see horses as close as we did, the incredible landscape makes it worth it anyway. After this we had lunch with a nomadic family - which we really recommend - the food was fantastic and it felt like a real authentic experience. We even got a chance to help make the food and learn more about the nomadic lifestyle. We can't thank Zaya enough for this once in a lifetime experience - don't miss it if you go to Mongolia.

This was absolutely the highlight of my Mongolian visit. It was a fabulous day where we saw deer, birds, marmot, and of course, the wonderful wild horses. I was picked up from my hotel on time and we drove to Khustai National Park. It's a scenic drive with vast vistas of the steppes. My driver had the vision of a hawk and could spot animals at a great distance. I was able to take great photos of the Takhi. We ate at the visitor center's buffet and then continued to visit a herder's family in their modernized ger. I was treated graciously by the mother and served her handmade food and drink. During the entire day, Zaya, went out of her way to make calls on my behalf to the airlines that misplaced my luggage 5 days before. Unbelievably, she and her husband met the flight bringing my bag to Ulaanbaatar, picked it up, and delivered it to my hotel the next morning. I do not think I have ever met such wonderful, kind people in all my world travels. I would rate this company as A++ or 10 out of 10.

Wonder day spent with the nicest people on earth! We were able to see deer, birds, marmot, and finally the wild horses. We then visited a most gracious herder family for food and drink. I learned about their lives in their peaceful, serene setting.

The guide (Zaya) and the driver were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble and Zaya was incredibly knowledgeable. The whole day felt like I was in safe hands and both Zaya and the driver were super enthusiastic about finding the wild horses for me to see even on such a windy and cold day. Overall I could not recommend this any higher. Thank you.

With limited time in Mongolia, this was a great road trip to get out of the city and see some of the countryside. My guide Zaya was great at communicating with me, and easily answered my questions. We saw lots of marmots, the wild horses, eagles and vultures. Had lunch with a local nomadic family which was great too. It’s a long-ish drive to the National Park (~2+ hours each way) and on some windy dirt tracks, but all added to the adventure!

Was a nice visit to Khusthai NP and nomadic family with informative explanation. Although visiting nomadic family was unique experience (thanks to the guide and the team), considering the price, we’d like to expect more…

If you're into wildlife it's worth a go. It was about a half-day trip from UB but we left at 5 in the morning. I was worried I might not get to see the horses as I heard sometimes you don't get to see them at all. But the English-speaking guide (Tugu) really knew when and how to spot the rare horses and we arrived at the spot just in time. Magnificent animals were with a foal, splashing water and rolling in dust. I felt lucky to see them pretty up close. Also saw lots of marmots pretty close, buzzards, an eagle and herd of deer grazing alongside the horses. The lunch was at a resort's buffet, nice variety of food and clean bathroom.

Great time visiting Mongolian national parks! If you want to get out of UB, and check out the countryside, this is the tour for you. You’ll get to see the beautiful Mongolian steppes and all the beautiful wild life, from eagles, larks, marmots, and even wild horses! Lunch with a nomadic family in a traditional ger was lovely. You’ll be off roading on dirt roads that can be a bit bumpy, but your driver can handle it. The tour guide spoke English well. I enjoyed myself very much!

This is a very good tour. However, in July the horses are on the mountain because it is hot. During the day the horses can only be seen through the park rangers telescope or through a very long telescope camera lens. I would recommend seeing the horses very early in the morning or late evening or during May or September when it is cooler and the horses are closer.
