This is a tough review to write as I have never written anything but a glowing review here before. This trip is marketed as a trip from Ambergris Caye for a total of 7 hours. It was supposed to include the transfer to the mainland, a tour of Mayan ruins, cave tubing and zip lining, as well as water and light refreshments, according to the synopsis. Our guide did not contact us until the night before. He attempted to contact us through Viator and send us our tickets for the transfer to the mainland. I explained to him that none of the attachments would open. He then emailed me personally screenshots of our tickets for the transfer. Every thing we had stated that the meet location was at the San Pedro Belize Express Marine Terminal at 6am. We arrived at 5:40am, paid to park our 3 golf carts (as we had 10 people going). We then got in line to board the water taxi. As we got to the front, at 6am, we were told our tickets were to a different water taxi, the Caribbean Sprinter, which was a 10-15 minute walk away. We would never make the 6am boat. I emailed the company, he eventually called me. I was, obviously, upset and I was told to "calm down." He said since we were 10 people, we had a private tour and could just walk or drive to the other boat and get on the 7am boat, which we ultimately did. I have to say, I was dismayed at how it was all handled. I understand not wanting to come to the island just to ride to the mainland with us, but if we were not meeting a tour guide from the beginning, we should have received better directions. He did explain that one of the attachments he tried to send in Viator had a map of the boat launch, but I reminded him that the attachments would not open and at no point did he ever tell me he was changing the location. Everything from my email, to the description in Viator to my tickets sent and put in my apple wallet all stated the meet location was the San Pedro Belize Express Marine Terminal. After we arrived in Belize City, the guides met us and told us that we could not go cave tubing because of the water level being too high. I understand that this was beyond their control but to date, we have not been refunded the price of those tickets. We boarded a van and went to the Mayan Ruins. We did stop at a market so he could buy us each a bottle of water. Some of us bought our own snacks there as at this point, it was close to 9am and we had yet to start our tour and had been "traveling" for over 3 hours. This one bottle of water each turned out to be the only thing included in the entire trip. It took us an hour to get to the Mayan Ruins. The ruins were great and both guides were very knowledgeable about the history and the area. Once we were done with the ruins, we got back in the van. We then drove another hour and a half to the zip lining. The zip lining was a cool experience. We were there about an hour. When we got done, there was an area where there was a bar and a kitchen in the back where we could purchase something to eat. The guide said if we wanted something quick to only order rice and beans. Considering at this point it was 2pm and we had been going all day without really eating, and not everybody in our 10 person party liked only rice and beans, we decided to order food. This, too, was not included and we had to pay $150 for the 10 of us to eat. He was right, it took a very long time and by the time we left, it was after 3pm. We had to drive over an hour, yet again, back to the boat terminal. We boarded a 4:30 boat and did not get back to San Pedro until after 6pm and then had to walk the 15 minutes back to our golf carts. 13 hours after arriving, we were done and we really only had 2 hours worth of "excursions" in that 13 hours. This was a very expensive tour, $3,500 for the 10 of us for only 2 hours worth of excursions. Parking and food purchases also added another $250 to our day, not including tip for the guides. The guides were nice enough but this just was not what we expected, was way over priced, was 5 hours longer than advertised, did not include any refreshments as advertised, and we received no refund for the cave tubing. I definitely do not think this excursion is worth the day.

What an amazing experience! The day turned out to be a private tour just for my family (kids 11 and 8), and it was perfect. We had to pivot to a different Mayan ruin due to the rain, but it worked out great. After the historical excursion, we pivoted to ziplining and cave tubing. We absolutely loved the zip-lining into a cave... so unique! Both Ryan and Dorian were great! Very friendly and knowledgeable, sharing a lot of information with us throughout the day. We ended the day with a traditional meal of beans, rice, and chicken, and it was delicious! I highly recommend Private Belize Adventures for a personal experience.

Linden was an amazing tour guide! Very knowledgeable and passionate! We learned a lot of history but also lots about local wildlife and nature! He is a great teacher and you can tell he is eager to share his homeland with you. We felt safe with Linden and enjoyed his friendly demeanor. All of the other guides and locals knew him and chatted with him at every stop (ruins, zip lining, cave tubing), it was cool to see. You won’t regret booking:)

A very long and exciting day. We had a very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide. The Mayan ruins were very interesting! The Ziplining was fun and exhilarating, but climbing those steps about did me in. The 2 guides there were wonderful and helpful. My favorite had to be the cave tubing. Just relax and take it all in!! Our guide stopped at a roadside diner for us and the food was amazing!!! By time we hit the water taxi back to the island we were exhausted.

Really our driver and cave guide (Paul) was the highlight. So knowledgeable with tons of experience. He was a great new friend to have on our trip! He even busted his ass to get us back to the water taxi on time and not miss the last boat.

The owner of Private Belize Adventure was great communicating via email, text, and phone call prior to our private tour. We drove our golf cart to the water taxi and after an hour and a half we reached Belize City. We were enthusiastically welcomed by The General! As we traveled through the country he patiently answered our numerous questions and provided a thorough explanation of things we passed (ie we actually stopped at a cashew tree to see how it was grown prior to being processed and packaged). We had a great hike at he Xunantunich ruins! The General gave us enough time to hike and actually be present and enjoy the site. We were pleased and the excursion wasn't even over yet! The best was yet to come when we went cave tubing. Our party had never been in a cave and The General guided us through slowly (we even saw bats!). Hiking up the rainforest to the mouth of the cave was truly an experience. The General explained flora and fauna along the way, The cave was magnificent (pictures will never do it justice), the water was cool and clear, but the experience was PRICELESS. We did not want to zipline, and instead had a mini tour of Belize City upon our return. We have nothing but good things to say about our experience!

Let me say this tour was the highlight of our trip! Paul met us at the ferry terminal and treated us like a queen and king for a day. He let us know about the itinerary, facts about the area, and kept us comfortable the whole day. He was so much fun we felt like we were hanging out with a friend for a day. He listened to us and made sure everything went so smoothly for us. What a great way to see some of the best Belize sights!

I will definitely book with Dorian and his team on our return visit. Thanks for the beautiful memories. My daughter and I are forever grateful 😀❤️
