Xunantunich is a site of importance, containing four main Plazas, to which the “El Castillo”, Structure A-6 stands tall at some 130 feet, burials revealing many sacred artifacts.

The journey begins at the Ferry, crossing the Mopan River, and a drive uphill to the parking area, after which the guest(s) will trek uphill to the Plaza on a guided tour. Hear interesting facts about the "El Castillo"- A-6, that stands approximately 130 feet tall, burials that revealed many sacred artifacts, and the famous Friezes and their interpretations will be shared. The view atop A-6 reveals a panoramic view of the area, overlooking the bordering department of Melchor de Menchos, Guatemala, and the canopy of the highland broadleaf forest for miles in the distance. Consider Xunantunich one of the more significant evidence to nobility during the Mesoamerican chronology. The adventure winds down with lunch at a local restaurant, where local food and drinks are served. Return journey begins immediately to end the day. Shopping is done within the journey where possible due to time constraints. You will have 90 minutes to explore the Plaza and plenty of time to explore on your own.

5.00I was only able to be in Belize for less than a week and I had a long list of activities I wished to accomplish. With the planning and organizational network of Jabiru Travel and Tours I was able to do everything I wanted and more. I saw beautiful rainforest in the Cayo district with some fun activities like zip lining and cave tubing. I learned about the history and ecology of the country from my personal guide as he transported me between locations. I enjoyed touring Mayan ruins. I saw beautiful natural wonders including waterfalls and additonal caves. I was introduced to many wonderful animals at the zoo, butterfly ranch, and on a snorkeling excursion leaving from Caye Caulker. I was able to taste delicious tropical fruits including cacao at a presentation on the ancient history of chocolate. My accomodations were comfortable; everywhere I stayed had a shower, clean towels, air conditioning, and television. I had a great time and I highly reccomend Jabiru Travel and Tours.
