Covered with water, cows grazing the fresh grasses, colourful flowers and green-timbered houses, Zaanse Schans is home to what some call the Eighth Wonder of the World: the historic 18th-century windmills.

Everybody knows about cheese, but few know how it’s produced. Your private driver/host will take you to the place where the magic happens, where the Dutch dairy gold is crafted. You will visit a local cheese factory in the picturesque fisherman village of Volendam, where you will be taught about the cheese-making craft and enjoy a delicious cheese tasting.

With windmills and cheese on board, it’s unthinkable to skip the traditional wooden clogs in this tour.

Explore the fascinating Dutch Windmills and venture inside their workings. The Zaanse Schans is home to seven remaining windmills, and several are accessible for exploration. Among them are the iconic paint windmill, where Rembrandt, the renowned Dutch artist, purchased his paint, as well as a saw mill, a spice mill, and more. Capture memorable moments with the picturesque windmills, The opportunity to acquire a ticket for an in-depth exploration of the windmill's inner workings is readily available. Younes was the best. He was super informative never rushed us and was very accommodating. We had plenty of time at every stop and he knew exactly what to see and prioritize, as well as what purchases were unique to each location. The van was very nice and Younes went out of his way to offer to take family photos in the best spots. A wonderful afternoon. Highly recommended.

Fantastic private tour with Elias! Convenient pickup at our ‘apartment’ exactly at appointed time. Elias was brilliant as he shared the history of Amsterdam, the countryside, Zaanse Schans, Henri Willig & Jersey Cows, and Volendam. His suggestions as to where to eat and what cuisine to try were ‘spot on’. Thank you, Elias, for a memorable excursion!

Fabulous trip! Elias exceeded our expectation with his knowledge of Amsterdams history, Zaanse Schaans’ history and current workings, Henri Willig Jersey Cows, cheese process, and the community of Volendam. Elias made excellent suggestions as to eating establishments: smoked eel. Thank you, Elias!

My mother and I had a great time. Yousef, our guide, was incredible. He made sure we were comfortable throughout the trip, and knew exactly the best places and best times to go. A visit to the windmills is essential, and we really enjoyed visiting the cheese farm and seeing the cows. The highlight was a visit to Smit Bokkum in Volendam which is internationally renowned for the smoked eel. I highly recommend it. Yousef went above and beyond, and even gave plenty of recommendations for the rest of our stay.

A perfect Netherlands experience, from windmills to cheese farm and charming seaside village. Our tour guide and driver, Younes, provided an excellent mix of history and current culture. It was delightful to spend the time with him.

Our driver/guide Monty was very professional. He confirmed our tour and arrived on time. He was extremely knowledgeable about the Dutch culture and history. He made our tour fun as we learned about clog making, about Jersey cows and the cheese products. I would definitely recommend this tour!

Redouan was an excellent tour guide and driver. He explained everything throughout the short drive and at the Zaanse Schans site. We learned a lot and really enjoyed the departure from the city. Plenty of time was given for souvenir shopping and he offered to take lots of pictures in all the right spots. The cheese factory demonstration and trip to Volendam were also very quaint and fun. Definitely take the windmill tour and request Redouan, you’ll have lots of fun with a very professional tour guide!
