Stone Town
Stone Town, Zanzibar’s historic heart, is full of narrow alleys, bustling markets, and Swahili architecture. Visitors can see the Slave Market, a memorial of the island’s role in the East African slave trade, and Freddie Mercury’s house, the birthplace of the Queen singer. The House of Wonders impresses with its wooden balconies, large doors, and history as the first building with electricity and an elevator. Stone Town is famous for curved, carved doors, historic Old Fort, Forodhani Gardens with street food, and lively markets selling spices, textiles, and crafts. Mosques, temples, museums, and the waterfront harbor complete the rich cultural experience.
Tortoise Sanctuary. It is famous for its giant Aldabra tortoises, some over 100 years old, which visitors can feed and photograph. The island also has historic prison ruins, originally intended for rebellious slaves but later used as a quarantine station for diseases like smallpox and yellow fever. Visitors can walk among the ruins and learn about the island’s history. Prison Island offers clear turquoise waters and small sandy beaches.

5.00We had an amazing experience exploring Stone Town, the spice tour, and Prison Island. Everything was well organized and full of interesting history and culture. Stone Town is beautiful and full of character, and the spice tour was fun and very informative—you get to see and taste everything fresh! Prison Island was also a highlight, especially seeing the giant tortoises and enjoying the clear water. Big thanks to our guide Ramadhan—he was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole trip enjoyable. Highly recommend this tour if you’re visiting Zanzibar!

Even during Ramadan, the tours ran smoothly, though it’s helpful to dress modestly and be mindful of the quieter daytime atmosphere. Highly recommend asking for Ramadhan if you book

5.00"We had a fantastic tour of Stone Town and Prison Island. Our guide, Ramadhan, was exceptional. He was very friendly and shared so much interesting history about the Slave Market and the architecture of the old city. Seeing the giant tortoises was a dream.
