This shady park was created to guarantee the protection of one of the last plots of dry forest that exists in Nouméa. Covering an area of 34 hectares, it houses the only collection of live terrestrial animals of New Caledonia.
Natural Heritage :
Flora : The park is home to several areas of dry forest, araucaria plantations, a palm grove and a collection of cacti.
Fauna : The animal collection numbers more than 700 animals. Some remarkable species included in the park are : the Cagou, the emblem of New Caledonia and protected bird, the Flying fox, the Caledonian crow & the giant gecko of Leach.
Landscape : Visitors can discover the magnificant views of Noumea and its bays from within the park.
The package includes transfers and admission fees to the park (note this is not a guided tour).
You can choose to leave from 10:30am onwards and a last shuttle is around 2pm.
You can stay as long as you want 1, 2 or 3 hours.
This package is only available if Cruise Ships are docked in Nouméa !

3.00Most tourists will catch a taxi to the site, if not part of a tour. 1500xpf from Andrew-Vata taxi fare approximately. Good entry cost concessions for seniors. The tropical trees are plentiful, providing lots of shady walking. The park is quite large and has hills, so bring your walking shoes and hat. Most tracks are road surfaced and there are hills. The lakes have plenty of fish and several eels, especially when fed bread pieces by local children. We saw plenty of caged large birds, which did not enthuse us. Window viewing for the reptiles we saw. Butterflies aplenty. Our trip was on 1 April and it was warm, so bring water. The person on reception was great.

3.00Zoological park was excellent (we could have spent more time there) but the shoreside organisation by Lyvai was poor and Viator's description of what would happen did'nt match.
Enjoyed a nice relaxing morning here.

4.00Part of an excursion activity on my cruise. Loved seeing peacocks everywhere, lots of parrots, some spider monkeys and the Ragù (the national bird if I heard correctly). Nice way to be outside whilst driving around - worth a visit and if I had more time I’d make a day of it.

2.00Mainly birds and most not indigenous. Not up to modern ZOO standards and veey basic. Difficult to navigate. Not worth the money.

5.00Nice place for a quiet walk. Map provided. Price includes round trip transportation and entry ticket. Much less expensive than cruise ship excursion.

5.00A very nice zoo and gardens in really nice order. The operators have done a lot of work to present (mostly birds) fauna and flora in a relaxing atmosphere.
