We introduce to you, two of the most representative Carnivals in the Zoque region of Chiapas. You choose one when you book. They are on different dates.
1. San Fernando - February 14th. Get your camera ready!
2. Coita - February 15th. The most colorful carnival in Chiapas!
All the action takes place in the streets, and we'll mingle with the crowds. It's chaotic and intense. Not recommended for young children. We'll visit the Cohuinas (traditional houses) and witness ceremonies that make them unique.
The experience is more than just visual: it becomes unforgettable thanks to my explanations of the roots of the customs and the legends you'll hear. This will give you a different perspective. It's not just a parade or a mask: there's a lot of history and faith behind it.
Not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries
Not recommended for pregnant travelers
Not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health
Suitable for all physical fitness levels
San Fernando
The Tiger and Monkey Dance, come discover this picturesque town with its winding streets. Join us to participate in the parades and tours of the town. We will visit the Casas del Prioste, the heart of this Carnival. Enjoy taking photos and meeting the local people. Get ready to try El Curadito (a traditional drink).
Ocozocoautla de Espinosa
The Zoque Coiteco Carnival, the most colorful of all the Carnivals in Chiapas. Prepare your camera, as this event is especially for photographers, both beginners and experts. We'll walk through the streets, discovering the Couhinas (Traditional Houses) to see the Carnival rituals up close. We'll sample traditional festival food and walk with the Chores (masked figures) toward the main square to watch the spectacular Carnival parade.

Rudy introduced us to the Carnival Zoque in the best possible way, explained its meaning and mixed us with the people, who accepted us as if we were one more. Every congregation invited us to eat. We tried the chanfaina and the pozol. And anywhere they offered you pumpo, a low-grade drink. After seeing how they dressed and eating we went to the parade which is super fun, to the sound of music foam and talcum powders are thrown. It's best to get in full and end up like everyone else, white, white... A bit of a party. Thanks Rudy.

The visit was fantastic. Perfect organisation. Rudi and Monika are very kind guides. The city's culture and people are fascinating. We wish we spent there only 4 days. The festival in Chiapa is awesome

Rudy is simply amazing. Thanks to him I got to know the real mexican culture, history, traditions, arts... First the walking tour around San Cristobal. I’ve been to many tours all over the world, and this was genuinely the best one. Rudy really cares about sharing everything he knows to get you informed and to guarantee you a great experience in Chiapas! AND an incredible, crazy, amazing experience was at Chiapa del Corzo! With a group of travellers we’ve been to this traditional fiesta and we enjoyed it all night long! INCREDIBLE! Without Rudy we would have missed so much. Thank you for making my time in Mexico unforgettable! Hasta luego!
