The Independence Palace
Reunification Palace was the base of Vietnamese General Ngo Dinh Diem until his death in 1963. It made its name in global history in 1975. A tank belonging to the North Vietnamese Army crashed through its main gate, ending the Vietnam War. Today, it's a must-visit for tourists in Ho Chi Minh City. The palace is like a time capsule frozen in 1975. You can see two of the original tanks used in the capture of the palace parked in the grounds. Reunification Palace was the home and workplace of the French Governor of Cochin-China. It has lush gardens, secret rooms, antique furniture, and a command bunker. It's still in use to host important occasions in Ho Chi Minh, including APEC summits.
War Remnants Museum
The War Remnants Museum in Ho Chi Minh City first opened to the public in 1975. Once known as the ‘Museum of American War Crimes’, it's a shocking reminder of the long and brutal Vietnam War. Graphic photographs and American military equipment are on display. There's a helicopter with rocket launchers, a tank, a fighter plane, a single-seater attack aircraft. You can also see a conventional bomb that weighs at 6,800kg. American troops had used these weapons against the Vietnamese between 1945 and 1975.

5.00Laren was an excellent guide. He was responsive, punctual, engaging, and accommodating to our group which included two seniors and a toddler. He always made sure that all our questions were answered and enough time was spent on each location. We left Ho Chi Minh city with a very good impression thanks in part to this tour. My toddler still references Laren, three weeks after this tour.

5.00We had a fantastic day with Laren touring HCMC! My family of five booked the private tour seeing all the sites in HCMC. Laren was very informative and friendly. The van was really comfortable and had great AC! The lunch was also so delicious! Laren gave us local advice on where to shop in HCMC. Highly recommend this tour!

5.00We had a delightful day on this tour, we did exactly what the description said. Our tour guide Laren was excellent, he kept the day working and very interesting, his historical knowledge was great. We were left to have lunch on our own which was a nice touch. A very worthwhile day, exploring the best touristy parts of Saigon. Highly recommend and if your lucky you will get Laren (Fats!!)

Great Introduction to a Fascinating City

5.00Laren and my driver picked me up promptly. I felt safe and well cared for the whole tour. The tour included Chinatown, a lacquer art gallery, the Unification Palace, the War Museum, the Post Office, and the Nam Du restaurant. Laren was very friendly and informative. I enjoyed the tour.
