Your adventure begins in Underberg, where you meet your guide and transfer into a specially equipped 4×4 vehicle for the journey into Lesotho. Travelling through Himeville and the UNESCO-listed uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park, you'll follow the scenic Sani Valley and Mkomazana River towards the legendary Sani Pass. As you ascend South Africa's highest mountain pass, dramatic cliffs, winding switchbacks, and breathtaking mountain scenery unfold around every corner. After crossing into Lesotho, enjoy lunch at Sani Mountain Lodge, home to the famous Highest Pub in Africa (subject to availability). The journey continues deeper into the highlands, including a visit to Black Mountain Pass, one of the highest drivable points in Southern Africa, with spectacular views towards Thabana Ntlenyana. Later, visit a traditional Basotho village to learn about local customs, culture, and daily life before continuing through remote mountain settlements to your overnight accommodation.

Wake to crisp mountain air and panoramic views across the Lesotho Highlands. After breakfast, choose between two memorable experiences: a guided mountain hike through the spectacular high-altitude landscapes or a traditional horseback adventure on the famous sure-footed Basotho ponies. Both options offer a unique perspective of the mountains and provide a deeper connection to the people and landscapes of the Kingdom in the Sky. Following your morning activity, return to Sani Top for lunch before beginning the descent of the iconic Sani Pass. Travelling back through dramatic mountain scenery and completing border formalities along the way, you'll enjoy a final opportunity to absorb the grandeur of the Southern Drakensberg. Arriving back in Underberg during the afternoon, you'll leave with unforgettable memories of Lesotho's mountains, culture, and hospitality.

5.00We had a fantastic and memorable time. Sani Pass was breathtaking and Lesotho amazing. Our time in the village with Joseph was really interesting and no show put on for us which is what we prefer. Accommodation very good and connections in and out of Durban well organised. Our guide Peter was knowledgeable and personable and we enjoyed our time with him. We would highly recommend this tour.

5.00Roof of Africa Tours works with a lot of passion. The guide (Peter) was very experienced and flexible. We had a overland in Lesotho and you just feel you want to see more from this beautiful authentic country! We would definitely book with them again!

5.00Wow. We were a large group who wanted to experience Lesotho and Sani Pass. Never attended better! It was a very good arrangement from start of the trip to the end of the trip. We got to ride horses, see the locals, eat good food and much more! Our guides were More and Warren, they were amazing and told us lots of interesting things about Lesotho and Sani Pass. This is a trip I will not forget thanks to our wonderful guides who made this trip so good.
