Canyon de Chelly National Monument has over 2,700 archaeologcal sites located in the heart of the Navajo Nation. Guests will see prehistoric ruins, rock art such as petroglyphs and pictographs. Rock formations, fauna and floral provides a perfect backdrop to your tour.
At each site you will hear the symbolic interpretations of petroglyphs and rock art, occupation dates, archaeology and associated prehistoric and historic events of the canyon and its inhabitants including associated oral histories.
All guides are Navajo and have strong ties to the canyon and will provide you with an experience that will last a lifetime.

Along the route, you may see such sites as: Kokopelli Cave featuring varous pictographs. Newspaper Rock featuring various petroglyph panels. Petroglyph Rock featuring various petroglyph panels. First Ruin featuring a prehistoric Puebloan ruin. Junction Ruin featuring a prehistoric Puebloan ruin. *White House Ruin featuring the iconic ruin. *Ledge Ruin in Canyon del Muerto featuring Puebloan ruins and rock art. *Tour time largely depends on canyon conditions. If guests linger longer than recommended at each site along the tour route, including browsing arts and crafts with vendors in the canyon, the guide will have to skip sites to stay on time. **NOTE: extended tour times may be available for an additional fee. 5.00A fun & fact-filled tour. Our guide was outstanding - a Navajo woman who had rediscovered her roots as she coped with the illness and death of her mom, and the horrible impact of COVID on her family and friends. Great mix of history and culture, with lots to be seen from the canyon floor.

5.00Chantz was a delight to be with. He shared his knowledge of the area with us and it was lovely. His intimate knowledge made the experience so personal and deep. He is enthusiastic and could not have been nicer.

5.00Our tour was amazing. Celia, our guide, was able to share the history of the canyon, her family's connection to the area, religious significance, and more. She was amazing, and I'll request her when we come back. Simply observing the canyon from the rim is not good enough; one really has to get into the canyon and hear the history to appreciate a place like Canyon de Chelly.

5.00Our guide, Celia, charmed us with stories about her family and others who live in the canyon. We learned of it's healing powers, as well as how the plants are used. The petroglyphs were explained and very meaningful. The explanation of the black lines on the rock was meaningful. The tragedy that the Navajo have suffered has made them very strong. Celia did a great job giving us a true appreciation of the canyon.

5.00Had a great time with my guide, Misty. She led me from the North Rim down a challenging route into Canyon del Muerto. We then hiked up the canyon floor viewing several archaeological sites and returned by same route. Enjoyed informative conversation about the history of the sites and area and some Navajo oral histories. Very rewarding experience. Thanks, Misty!

5.00Wonderful 3 hour tour with our very knowledgeable and very kind guide, Chantz. The canyon is magnificent and we learned a great deal in the three hours we were out exploring. The canyon was not overly crowded, so we really felt a sense the history and magic of the environment. Highly recommend.
