Enjoy a 3,5-hour Mostraumen Fjord Cruise from Bergen and experience the magnificent and varied landscapes in the Osterfjord and Mostraumen strait. When sailing out from Bergen's famous Fish Market you will have a great view to some of the oldest and most relevant historical sites in the city, including the medieval fortress Bergenhus, St Mary's church and the colorful Bryggen Hanseatic wharf, which is on UNESCO’s world heritage list. From there, we sail through beautiful Western Norwegian scenery in the City Fjord, Salhus Fjord and Osterfjord towards the stunning Mostraumen Streams. The captain safely steers the boat through narrow sounds, deep fjords, a maze of islands and the powerful currents of the narrow Mostraumen channel.
Fish Market
The picturesque Fish Market in Bergen is one of Norway's most visited outdoors markets. The Fish Market sells seafood, fruit and vegetables. The Fish Market has a charming location in the heart of the city between the fjords and Bergen's 7 mountains. The Fish Market has since the 1200s been a meeting place for merchants and fishermen. There are also several restaurants serving a large selection of seafood. The indoor Fish Market is open all year and the outdoor Fish Market is open from the 1st of May and during the summer.

5.00This was a great tour. The boat cruise was nice and we saw sole beautiful places all along the fjord, and the view from the funicular was awesome. Trace our guide was awesome - she is friendly, personable and extremely knowledgeable.

5.00We boarded "Eric the Red" ship at Strandkaien 16 exactly at exactly 10 o'clock, although an employee had earlier mistakenly directed us to a ship across the harbor for a fjord cruise without checking that we had tickets for the three-in-one tour. Upon our return to Strandkaien 16, John, our tour guide, welcomed us aboard and we joined the other 4 members of his tour group at a table at the front of the ship. As the ship departed on time, John prompted us to introduce ourselves, where we were from and what we did for work (or in retirement), which put us all at ease. We spent the next several hours learning about Bergen and daily life in Norway. John kept us engaged with the history of Norway, the people and life on the sea, and daily life today in Bergen. He carefully avoided overloading us with excessive detail and kept the conversation flowing fluently and smoothly. Once the ship slowed in the narrow fjords, we hopped onto the upper deck to capture some "Kodak" moments and more stories of the life in the fjords. The time passed very quickly and before we knew it, we were back at the wharf and off-loading. We passed through the fish-market and onto the Bergenhus fortress which we toured as he regaled us with the colorful history starting in the pre-10th C, to the ship explosion in 1942 that blew its anchor to the top of the mountain and finally to today's royal family. We meandered the Hanseatic buildings on the wharf learning about the foundations weakened by the water and efforts to shore them up. From there we walked to the funicular and up to Floyen for a panoramic view of Bergen and the harbour. Fortunately, we had blue skies and little wind to appreciate the views from atop the mountain. Thank you to John for a very informative and delightful tour. I think it's safe to say that every one of us had a great day and a very enjoyable tour.

5.00The tour was good and our guide John was excellent. Unfortunately we could not go all the way to Mostraumen because the fjord was frozen. Slight disappointment. Was also lucky as the weather was great.

5.00I booked this tour on the fly to make the most of my time in Bergen and it was well worth the money. The guide, Arild, was very knowledgeable, nice and gave me the red carpet rollout. I would definitely recommend.
