Unfortunately this Private trip did not occur. I did receive a confirmation from Trip advisor and my credit card was charged. The tour operator never communicated directly with me. In the days leading up to the trip, I reached out to the operator to verify the pick up time and location. I called The phone number associated with the operator on the confirmation but always got voice mail stating they were not available. I did leave messages asking them to return my call. I finally called trip advisor customer support, who suggested I call the phone number for the operator, which I already had. I also explained that since it was a private tour for me and my party, that my expectation was that they would pick me up at my hotel. Trip advisor emailed me advising that they had reached out to the operator to tell them when and where to pick me up. (I don’t know if TA ever received an acknowledgement from the operator). So I waited at the designated location (outside my hotel at the front door, the only hotel entrance so there’s really no way the operator could say they showed up, but maybe I was at the wrong door). After waiting for a half hour after the designated pickup time (8:00 am), I finally reached out to trip advisor for a refund around 8:40. Side note. I did get a text back from the number I had been calling to try and coordinate the trip with. They indicated that the number I was calling was not who I thought they were (the tour operator) and that this wasn’t the first time they had received calls asking for the operator. I am confident that I did not misdial as I was clicking the “contact operator” link which automatically brought up the number on my cell phone to call. I always want to give people the benefit of the doubt. But I am left believing that tour operator Pau Hana tours is fraudulent. Trip Advisor did what could be done and I’m hopeful they will approve the refund if they can not secure a full refund directly from the operator. Would have loved to have seen all these sights, but it did not happen.
