4.00WE WERE WITH A LADY OPERATOR WHO OWNED THE CO. SHE WAS A HISTORY MAJOR, WENT TO COLLEGE THERE. BOOKED VIA VIATOR:- Amanda Leese. Very knowledgeable historically, culturally and architecturally about the history of this lumber and cotton center. the only issue we had was her constant reference to "white supremacy" in describing how the sitting Negro population was ousted from office and in many cases purged from the city. while historically accurate what was not in vogue was the term which today conjures up a very different set of facts, emotions and prejudices. I suggest she describe the historical event and NOT inject 2020 liberal politics--it was not difficult to guess where she was coming from!! I did not tip her!
Don't pass this up!

5.00I love walking and history but Amanda really blew us away! She is so knowledgeable and passionate about her work preserving and sharing the history of Wilmington. She had great stories and was very fluid in her sharing of historical events. I'd do it again for sure! What a great little city!

5.00Amanda was amazing. Not only did she describe the architecture of the town, but she shared the history of Wilmington. Highly recommend this trip for both time and money.

5.00Exceeded expectations! Amanda offered fascinating insight into the stages of the built environment via historic homes and family stories. She also provided an overview of the social and economic forces at play in Wilmington’s history. Clearly she both loves Wilmington and is deeply engaged in understanding it’s past. Our trip here is enriched by this tour. Don’t miss it!
