Chinese Fishing Nets
Chinese fishing nets(Cheena vala)are a type of stationary lift net in India. They are fishing nets that are fixed land installations for fishing. While commonly known as "Chinese fishing nets" in India, the more formal name for such nets is shore operated lift nets. Huge mechanical contrivances hold out horizontal nets of 20 m or more across. Each structure is at least 10 m high and comprises a cantilever with an outstretched net suspended over the sea and large stones suspended from ropes as counterweights at the other end. Each installation is operated by a team of up to six fishermen. While such nets are used throughout coastal southern China and Indochina, in India they are mostly found in the Indian cities of Kochi and Kollam, where they have become a tourist attraction. This way of fishing is unusual in India and almost unique to the area, as it was introduced by Chinese explorers who landed there in the 14th century.

5.00I M Haneef was really nice and made the tour very enjoyable. Was able to see lots of different things across Kochi and overall it was a good day outing . Cost wise it is the more expensive option (as you can just hire a tuktuk per hour for less and you still need to tip/donate to the different attractions) but still a very nice day. I M Haneef was very kind, knowledgeable and conversational which made it an enjoyable tour.

5.00Ali and Aslam were fantastic!! Their tuk tuk ride helped us navigate the vibrant streets of Fort Kochi, steeped in history, colonial architecture, modern adaptations and the unique "Fort Kochi Vibe". We even extended our tuk tuk city tour for salon and pub visits. Gracious, punctual and perfect examples of "atithi devo bhava" these two were simply fantastic! Till we meet again, valare nanni Ali & Aslam!

5.00We have wonderful time with Sam spending one day with him in his Tuk Tuk. He is kind, has a great sense of humor and a big knowledge of Kochi. We felt very safe with him driving. He took us to many interesting places and was open to our ideas. I recommend him to anyone who is interested in seeing Kochi.

5.00We called Hany, our tuk tuk driver, two times during our stay in Fort Kochi. He was very nice to us and accommodating to our request. He did a great job showing us the main seightseeing spots, and few exrra ones. We are a family of three, and our daughter loved the ride as rhe highlight of the trip. Thank you Hany flr making our time in Kochi an unforgeatable experience.
