Kek Lok Si Temple
During the British colonial era, the Chinese community in Penang flourished, practicing their faith with devotion and building many grand temples—some said to rival, if not surpass, those in China. One of the most renowned is Kek Lok Si, often described as the largest Buddhist temple complex in Southeast Asia, resembling a spiritual theme park. Built in 1985, visitors can learn about Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism while exploring its beautifully crafted pagodas, vibrant lanterns, intricate statues, and peaceful gardens. Don’t miss the breathtaking view of George Town from the temple grounds. As the locals say: “You haven’t been to Penang unless you’ve visited Penang Hill and Kek Lok Si.”
Penang Hill
Penang Hill, is a popular tourist destination known for its cool climate, panoramic views, and rich biodiversity. Rising 833 meters above sea level, it offers a refreshing escape from the tropical heat below. Accessible by the historic funicular railway, the hill features attractions like The Habitat, colonial-era buildings, temples, and viewing decks overlooking George Town and the Straits of Malacca. Its lush rainforest is home to diverse flora and fauna, making it ideal for nature lovers. Penang Hill also plays a role in conservation efforts and promotes eco-tourism through sustainable practices and educational programs.

5.00Mr. Eng Choon Wooi is the best tour guide i have ever come across in the 20 counties i have visited and the over 100 tours i have done all around the world. As a local and a guide in Penang for over 10 years, Mr. Eng Choon Wooi knew exactly where to take us in our private and customisable tour. We felt like VIPs skipping the queues, his charisma is unmatched, he made us laugh so many times and told us secrets that only Mr Wooi and the locals would know. In the our wonderful 6 hour tour, he showed us all the best areas in Penang, explained to us in detail about each of our spots, the history of not just Penang but Malaysia as a whole, he took several photos for my mum and myself at all the very best areas and went above and beyond and took care of us in every way like we were special, he made us feel special.. I have been on great tours but I don't think there will be a better tour guide then Mr. Eng Choon Wooi. He truly stands out as the best. Thank you Mr. Eng Choon Wooi, i will recommend you to everyone who wants the best tour period!

5.00Great private tour. I would recommend doing this private tour on day 1 and then you can explore Penang on your own or do other activities like food tour. This private tour gives you opportunity to explore the town in your own pace. Guide was amazing and very knowledgeable. I did this tour on 6/16/2026.

5.00This was one of the highlights of my time in Penang. Jeff was the perfect guide: knowledgeable, engaging, and incredibly patient. He taught me so much about Penang's history, culture, religions, and daily life, bringing the city to life through stories and insights I would never have discovered on my own. He also happily answered my endless stream of questions throughout the tour and never seemed to run out of interesting things to share. Along the way, we enjoyed some local snacks and even tried durian together, which made the experience feel even more authentic and memorable. A huge thank you to Jeff for such a wonderful day. I left with a much deeper understanding of Penang and many great memories.

5.00We had a great custom experience with our guide, Law. We spent most of our day on Penang Hill but also saw the highlights of the large Kek Lok Si temple, inside visits of Blue Mansion and Khoo Kongsi House, water jetty area and street art/murals. Law is educated about so many aspects, he was a great guide. Very pleasant and accommodating of our requested itinerary. Very nice to save us walking in the heat by dropping us off nearby the sights and picking us up. Much appreciated! Request him for your tour!

We visited the large temple, Penang Hill, gangster House, coffee tasting and had a great lunch on top of the hill. Would recommend and special thanks to our new friend Eng 😁
