Turned up early, planned an awesome private tour for our family of 6 across Kanazawa, including a unique family run Japanese curry restaurant, visits to the geisha district, samurai district, Ninja Castle, Kanazawa Castle and world class Kenrokuen Gardens.   Our guide, Nozomi, was fantastic. She speaks English flawlessly. More importantly, she is engaging, pleasant and imparted lots of interesting information. The history of the region is very interesting — and the City is striking. Book a guided tour and ask for Nozomi.

  Ian was fantastic! He was very knowledgeable about Kanazawa and offered us great insights. We were able to see hidden jems of the area that we wouldn't have seen on our own. He introduced us to a new Japanese food that we'd never had but absolutely loved.

  The tournwad great. Our guide was waiting for us at hotel and crafted our itimerary in consideration of self guiding we did the day before. She found a lunch spot that was terific that two adults and two kids including 2 picky eaters really enjoyed. Our guide Ai was incredible with our eight year old and had the patience of a saint with her. We learned a ton of details about Kanazawa history and culture. Really a terrific way to see Kanazawa.

  Really excellent tour. Tetsuya San balanced deep knowledge of the history and context of the buildings and neighbourhoods with practical considerations. We felt we really got to know Kanazawa. He was friendly, interesting and a pleasure to spend time with. We loved the restaurant he chose for lunch as well.

  Says was absolutely brilliant and served us a perfect day. We toured two Geisha neighborhoods, the Samurai neighborhood and the Castle Garden. She spoke excellent English and provided in depth knowledge and history. I highly recommend her as a guide!

  

  

  

  

  

• Bring Kanazawa to life

  Ian showed our group of 2 couples around Kanazawa for a day and a half. He was excellent at placing sites and information and historical context and pointing out small details, such as small water jets used to clear snow in winter, that made the city come to life. It has been one of the most informative experiences we’ve had in our 3 weeks in Japan.

  We had such a great day with Sachiko in Kanazawa! She included all of the highlights and I feel like we got a great experience. My son loved the Ninja museum! Sachiko is also a great photographer and put together a photo album for us that captured candid moments throughout the day. Couldn’t have asked for more!

  Our guide, Saya, spoke English well and was very punctual. She took in our opinions about what we wanted to see and put together a great itinerary. She made sure we went at our own pace and still had enough time to see everything on our list. She was super knowledgeable about the area since she is a local. We learned all about the history of the samurai district and geisha districts. We also learned about the beautiful garden which we had previously visited over a decade ago. We also visited the crafts museum. Saya was engaging and friendly. My tween was even paying attention to the history.   Outstanding day in Kanazawa focused on the Samurai area and visits to 2 craft centres ( embroidary and dye). Led by Sachiko, who was friendly, well informed, with excellent language skills.
