Fatima
Begin this journey visiting Fatima renowned worldwide for its Sanctuary, a significant pilgrimage site for Catholics. It commemorates the apparitions of the Virgin Mary to three shepherd children in 1917. The Sanctuary includes the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary and the Chapel of Apparitions, where pilgrims gather to pray and seek spiritual solace.
Batalha Monastery
Then we will take you to Batalha Monastery. Located in the town of Batalha in central Portugal, is a magnificent example of late Gothic architecture and is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Monastery of Batalha was commissioned by King João I of Portugal in 1386 to commemorate the Portuguese victory at the Battle of Aljubarrota against the Castilian forces in 1385. The monastery exemplifies the Portuguese Gothic style, characterized by intricate stone carvings, ribbed vaults, and elaborate ornamentation. It also incorporates elements of Flamboyant Gothic architecture, especially notable in the Founder's Chapel.

5.00Our guide for the day, Daniel, was very knowledgeable of the sights that he took us to. We had a wonderful time, engaging in fun conversations. He kindly accommodated our interests. We enjoyed getting to know him. Each of the stops was interesting and the variety of stops made for a pleasant day. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at a restaurant frequented by locals. Daniel went above and beyond, and we would highly recommend both this tour and our tour guide.

5.00Very long but great day out with an excellent guide - Vasco - who was well informed and very personable. Fatima felt very commercial but the shrine & complex itself was beautiful. The history of Balthala, Alcobaca, Nazare was really interesting. The little shop we stopped briefly at in Balthala had some of thr best quality ( if expensive) cork products i’ve seen in portugal. Next to Sintra or perhaps tied for favorite place outside of Lisbon was Alcobaca with it’s Romeo and Juliet story, beautiful artisnal stores, delightful pastry shops and cheerfully painted buildings. We also loved the views and beach area of Nazare. Our arrival in Obidos coincided with heavy rain and fast diminishing daylight allowing us to catch a fleeting glimpse of a charming, picturesque town that merited at least 1/2 a days visit if not more - will have to revisit it on another trip.

5.00Excellent tour! It was very romantic to know more about the historical Portuguese couple Pedro and Inês! Our guide Diogo was amazing. This was not the first tour we have done with Essencia da Latitude. Last time it was a half-day tour in Lisbon and it was wonderful!! , but I sincerely recommend other tourists to visit other places in Portugal (rather than the capital Lisbon) with this company!

5.00The entire tour was fantastic, the flexibility was there and the client really mattered opposed to some tours where you were required to watch the clock. The tour was highlighted by a tour guide that is not only knowledgeable but incredibly passionate about the Portuguese heritage, culture and history. Made me proud to be Portuguese. I would not hesitate to go on this tour again, i highly recommend it and Diogo is an absolute must.

5.00Daniel is the best. He has so much knowledge about Fátima and the surrounding areas. He took us to a great restaurant for lunch . It was difficult to say goodbye to this delightful gentleman. Five stars are not enough for this trip! Thank you Daniel.

5.00We spent a great day with Daniel Bastos, who visit all the places with us, explaining history and curiosities about them. Kind and knowledgeable on he places we visited, made us feel confortable to spend the full day walking. The right guide for the right tour. Finally the places suggested on the tour are beautiful and worth visiting. Totally recommend this tour.
