Step into the heart of Wales on our Welsh Castles, Mountains and Steam Railway day tour — a carefully curated journey through Wales’ most striking landscapes and historic landmarks.
This tour travels from Cardiff into South and Mid Wales, passing by the iconic Cardiff Castle before visiting the impressive Caerphilly Castle - one of the largest and best-preserved medieval fortresses in Europe.
From here, the journey continues into open countryside, with a nostalgic steam train ride on the Brecon Mountain Railway winding through the stunning scenery of Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, before visiting Talybont Reservoir.
Enjoy free time in the historic market town of Brecon, beautifully set on the River Usk. Take a peaceful walk along the canal, visit the atmospheric cathedral, or relax over lunch in one of the town’s cafés.
You'll also visit Cyfarthfa Castle, a grand 19th-century mansion that tells the story of Wales’ industrial heritage and the ironmasters who helped shape Wales.

5.00Chris our guide was wonderful. Full of information and funny. The tour was nice and informative. Only gripe was that the bus was very small/tight for my husband who is 6’2”. Other than that, this was a fantastic day exploring Wales.

4.00Very nice tour of the Cardiff area, enjoyed Caerphilly most of all. Castle Coch was surrounded by scaffolding and we were told we’d get to see a fourth castle to make up for it, but that didn’t happen. Still, a lovely day and a great chance to see areas around Cardiff. Our tour guide was informative, and the time spent at each location was good.

5.00It was a small group, which was nice. The guides and driver were excellent. Learned about some Welsh history and traditions. Beautiful countryside, especially the Brecon Beacons National Park.
