This half-day food tour through Colombo gives the opportunity to try a large range of the authentic street food that very few tourists ever get the chance to try.
Wander around the Pettah Market while drinking one of the famous king coconut drinks! Discover what makes the Sri Lankan hopper so special all around the world.
Enjoy explosive fiery flavor of spicy symbols and the fun deliciousness of red and white rice string hoppers. Turn your attention to the complex flavors of fruit chutneys and Sri Lankan pickles. Inhale the aroma at a cassava chip stall as crunch your way through them. Enjoy a cup of tea with a nice fresh samosa - a triangular pastry filled with savory goodness. Try some of Sri Lanka’s more exotic fruits.
After a walk around the Old Town Hall Market, go for a more filling meal. You will have the choice of selecting a packet of lump-rice or lamp rice as some of the food stalls advertise, or a giant plate of the much spoken about koththu Rotti.

We take you to a local market area where you can experience how Sri Lankan coffee is made and you will taste a one for sure. Also we take you to try famous Ceylon tea at a small shop in the City
Each traveler will get their own bottle water from our onboard cooler.
On our morning tours we finish with a Sri Lankan local lunch at a local restaurant.
Our afternoon normally starts at 3.30 pm finish with a local street food dinner. You will try very popular Sri Lankan dinner dishes like Kottu, Egg hoppers, and various other options.

5.00Boby was professional, courteous, respectful, friendly, funny and informative. His Tuk Tuk was well maintained and a cut above other dubious looking ones. He happily took us to/in many places and the local restaurant had fantastic food. Us 3 ladies thoroughly enjoyed our day. Boby seems to know everyone, everywhere! Would highly recommended this tour with Boby. Sara Coburn

4.00We were hosted by Pradeep, who safely took us through the chaotic traffic of Colombo - showing us the major sights and giving us a great street food and tea tasting experience. We asked Pradeep to cut back the time spent at each sightseeing attraction and focus on the food, which was exactly what he did! We would have scored a 5 if the tuktuk had been in better shape. It was a bit shabby and some mechanical faults - but still got us around fine.

5.00Fantastic day out, we were taken to see lots of interesting places with detailed explanations throughout. We had several great snacks as well as a wonderful meal in a local restaurant and found out lots of interesting things about tea and coffee production in Sri Lanka. The guide was knowledgable, friendly and answered any questions we had. Couldn’t have made us feel more at ease. Highly recommended!

3.00The tour, while acceptable, did not meet some of the advertised features. It was, to some extent, impacted by a religious holiday and closed markets. Some featured stops were not covered and the method of transport was in tuk tuks ( no wifi, no refreshments ) and was late starting due to confusion by the operator regarding the pick up location. The provided lunch at local restaurant was very good. The tea shop visit was vey disappointing due in part to the large group of other visitors.

2.00The lunch was good but we did not get any of the snacks mentioned (only received a small amount of fruit) we also got taken to a gem shop . For the price I would not recommend.
You need to have a high tolerance of spices to enjoy this trip.

3.00I was first taken to a tea shop to taste and buy tea. Then I was taken to 2 restaurants which was not the what the description said. And despite telling the driver I only prefer a mild level of spices, the first meal was the best out of the 3. The second and third meals that were prepared by the same restaurant were not really eaten by me once I tasted them.

5.00I had Thairu as my tour guide, and he was hands down the best guide I had in Sri Lanka! He’s incredibly fun to be around, has a great sense of humor, and knows so much about the sites. He even adjusted the itinerary to make sure I got to see everything I wanted. At one point, I lost the back of my earring, and he actually searched the streets until he found it! When our tuk-tuk broke down on the way home, I was ready to grab an Uber, but he insisted on personally escorting me back in another tuk-tuk. I can’t recommend him enough—if you’re considering this tour, definitely go with Thairu!

2.00Unfortunately this experience was getting driven around the city without a lot of interaction. The guide wasn’t much of a guide at all and took us around to different spots, albeit very cool areas but we were expecting an actual guide to chat to and learn about the food and culture. Our guide spent most of his time talking on the phone while we walked around from place to place. It didn’t seem like an a very well organized company. I would book elsewhere for a better experience.
