Very disappointed - old and broken boat

2.00We were really disappointed with our recent dive trip. The crew was friendly and very nice but the boat and the dive experience were sub par. The dive master was a lovely woman who we enjoyed talking to but it was clear she was a very junior dive master. She didn’t know the sites and got lost several times. Once she had to surface to find the boat. She wasn’t really able to point much out and she sadly forgot the UV torch for the night dive. Seeing as this is advertised as a high quality boutique dive shop this was really disappointing. Again, she was so nice and we liked her a lot but just not enough experience/training on the reef. The boat is “rustic” as my husband puts it. It’s straight up old and dirty. There is a very small space downstairs that’s inside and it’s jammed packed with stuff. So if it’s raining you have to be in your room or up in a partially covered spot by the captain. So you have to choose from being cold and wet or getting sea sick while underway. Beds were very uncomfortable as the foam mattress was old and very thin on top of wood. Upstairs and downstairs were dirty and things were falling apart. The sail broke two weeks ago so we couldn’t sail so it took forever to return to Cairns. The radio was broken, one of the engine alarms kept going off and the captain had to reassure us it was fine. Even the pillows had mildew on them. And both toilets clogged… just a mess! The drive equipment was hit and miss. The tanks, regs, BCDs, and dive computers are great. The wetsuits and fins need to be replaced. We went through so many suits before we found one without major holes or large tears in them. This was a once in a lifetime trip for us and we just wanted to leave and go home. The staff was great but they need a better boat and (in the dive masters case) some more training. This is on the owner, not them.

5.00This trip was amazing. My three teenage boys and I had an incredible time. The staff was professional and very knowledgeable. The small group and sailing experience really enhanced our experience on the Great Barrier Reef. I cannot recommend this company highly enough.

5.00Friendly professional staff, safe, took us to some great sites for both snorkelling and diving. Being a smaller boat and crew it feels very personal and friendly. We got to do some sailing along the way which was cool. I went in very windy conditions and despite that we still had great dive spots available. It’s a lot smaller than the other operators which means the boat takes a bit longer to get to the reef but that time was just enjoyed chatting and enjoying the view. The cost was fair. As a solo traveller it was very easy to go along and enjoy myself. I’ve done diving with other companies on the reef and this was equivalent in quality.

5.00Great time out on the water with the crew. We were lucky enough to snag a smaller group so we got a great personalised experience from Gaz, Robbie, Yen and Liv! They took us to their secret spots and served up a great couple meals. The facilities on the boat are what you get for the price paid, this tour is a great budget-friendly option for exploring the reef. If I was to return, I would choose Coral Sea Dreaming every time. A fantastic two days for fun and the family.

5.00Great tour, great instructors (Robbie), great crew and great captain (Gary) for the Great Barrier Reef!! We went to really cool secluded spots and were able to find sea turtles, reef sharks and humpback whales… would highly recommend.
