Explore Durmitor National Park, one of Montenegro’s most spectacular mountain landscapes and a UNESCO-protected wilderness near Žabljak.
This experience is designed for travelers who want more than a quick stop at the famous Black Lake and prefer to discover Durmitor’s hidden nature, glacial lakes, and quiet forest trails.
Option 1 – Durmitor Glacial Lakes Walk, 3-3.5 hours
Visit three beautiful lakes surrounded by ancient pine forest: Black Lake, peaceful Zminje Lake, and the secluded Barno Lake. Enjoy an easy scenic walk and free time for photos in one of Montenegro’s most pristine alpine environments.
Option 2 – Jablan Lake & Mountain Heritage Trail, 5 hours
A moderate hike toward Jablan Lake passing the traditional village of Bosaca and historic sites of Pirlitor and Momcilov Grad. Expect panoramic views, local legends, and authentic mountain scenery. End by Black Lake.
Both options reveal the quieter side of Durmitor National Park and its timeless landscapes.

Black Lake, the largest of Durmitor’s 18 glacial lakes, is often called the “mountain eyes of Montenegro.” Surrounded by dense pine forest and dramatic peaks, it’s a place where time slows down and nature truly shines—simply magical to experience. National Park entrance fee: €5 per person.

Zminje lake, one of 17 in the National Park. Every lake has his own story, but lets leave that to the guide to tell.

5.00It was the best tour ever, amazing 4 days! We liked Budva and Kotor, but the most beautiful places for us were Skadar Lake and Black Lake on Durmitor. Wild beauty in Montenegro is really amazing! For sure, we will come again. Of course, we had excellent tourist guide (Nikola). See you soon again.
