DUSHANBE TO DARVOZ (KALAIKHUM) 5–6 HRS
Drive towards Kulob on A385 road. Enjoy the views of one of the world’s highest hydropower station Nurek in a distance. Visit 11th-century Hulbuk Palace before Kulob village. Head on to the Shurobod pass. After the pass, deep rocky valleys and gorgeous mountains open up. Drive along Panj River with amazing mountain views and through numerous local villages. Arrival in Kalaikhum village. Dinner and overnight in a homestay.
DARVOZ (KALAIKHUM) TO KHOROG CITY, 5-6 HRS
Breakfast. Travel to Khorog city. The road continues along the Afghan border with picturesque scenery and widens up in the Vanj valley with gorgeous mountain views along the river. Arrival in Khorog city. Accommodation in a hotel. Afternoon, do evening hike in a Botanical Garden that has various plants and trees to explore.
KHOROG CITY - ISHKASHIM VILLAGE - YAMCHUN FORTRESS & HOT SPRINGS - LANGAR VILLAGE, 5-6 HR
Breakfast. Visit fortress Khaaka on the way at Namadgut village right after leaving Ishkashim village. It is worth a 10 minutes stop. Take another detour on the way at Yamchun to admire the 12th century Yamchun Fortress rising from a platform of natural rock. Walk up to the edge of the fort and you will have an amazing view of Wakhan valley. Further up the hillside are located the hot springs of Bibi Fatima with its crystal waters rich in minerals. Walk back to your car and drive to Langar village.
LANGAR VILLAGE - PANORAMA RIDGE TREK ( 3-4 HRS) AT KARGUSH PASS – BULUNKUL & YASHILKUL LAKES – ALICHUR VILLAGE, 7-8 HR
Breakfast. Travel to Kargush pass, 2hrs. Road follows the river Pamir all the way to Kargush checkpoint with the chance to admire the Big Pamir of Afghanistan with nomadic Afghan Kyrgyz caravans. Arrival at the Kargush pass and start the 3-4 hrs trek to Panorama Ridge at 4800 meters. While walking up, two small lakes behind you at roadside open up to cheer you. Enjoy the stunning mountain scenery of Great Pamir on Afghan border on the top of pass. Walk back to your car. Take another side trip to see alpine lakes Bulunkul Yashilkul. Drive to Alichur village, 1 hr.
ALICHUR VILLAGE - OBSERVATORY HILL - MURGAB VILLAGE - KARAKUL LAKE , 6-7 HR
Breakfast. We take a detour to Observatory Hill. You will see a nice view of Muztagh Ata peak of China on top of the hill if no clouds in the sky. Down the hill, there is a Soviet truck full of skulls of Marco Polo sheep inside. Once upon a time, it was a hunting camp. Back to the main road and go to Murgab village. Lunch in a local guesthouse or café. Travel goes on to Karakul lake with the highest pass Akbaital (4655 m) you will ever do in Tajikistan, 3hr. Take photos of glaciers on the pass. Arrival in Karakul lake. Overnight and dinner in a guesthouse.
KARAKUL LAKE - SARYMOGOL VILLAGE – LENIN PEAK BASE CAMP, 4–5 HRS
Base Camp For Peak Lenin
Breakfast. Drive to the checkpoint, 1hr. Cross the borders and head up to the Lenin Peak Base Camp via Sarymogol village, 3 hrs. Arrival in the yurt camp at the base camp and lunch in a yurt. Explore the snowcapped Lenin Peak in Pamir mountain range by taking a day hike from your yurt camp to the Traveler’s pass at 4130 meters, 3 hrs. Enjoy the beauty of glaciers while walking up to the pass. Rest at the top of the Traveler’s pass to gaze at glaciers tumbling off the massive peak. Back to your yurts, 2 hrs. Overnight and dinner in a yurt.
LENIN PEAK BASE CAMP– SARYMOGOL VILLAGE - OSH CITY, 4–5 HRS
Osh
Breakfast. Drive to Osh city along the numerous Kyrgyz villages and shepherd’s yurts scattered in mountains slopes, 5 hrs. Arrival and be accommodated in your hotel. End of the trip.

4.00Pros: Max (the driver) was awesome! Good English and big heart. Fantastic views. Had the chance to embrace their culture and sleep in unique places. Cons: Food was full of oil everywhere. A lot of time in car.

5.00This trip far exceeded my expectations. The views were something that no picture can tell. You wake up, have breakfast and go to the next sightseeing/hiking location. On the way you stop to take pictures (кайрат knows the best ones). The hikes are challenging but well worth it (you definitely feel that there’s less oxygen on that height). On the days you are not hiking you go to hot springs, play volleyball or other random side quests. Big shoutout to our driver кайрат, he made the trip really fun. I think he literally knows everybody from Dushanbe to Osh. That made communicating with the locals really easy e.i. ordering food. Highly recommend him, especially if your younger.

5.00Me and my friends we were travelling with the best driver on Pamir Highway - Kairat, we had 9 days trip from Dushanbe to Osh, the whole experience was a lifetime adventure with plenty of activities I didn’t even expect we’d have. The views, the people met during the trip and truly exceptional driver, all that stuff made me falling in love with Pamir Highway. I recomend it to everybody!

5.00Kairat was our driver and he was wonderful. Alay tours was very quick to respond to many of my questions before the trip. Even when Turkish airlines cancelled our flight and we had to rebook there was zero problems. With Kairat the journey was as smooth as possible given how difficult the terrain is. The whole journey went smoothly and was a great advent that I will remember for the rest of my life. The trip cost 500 usd and around 2500 Tajik somoni. The whole trip was a full nine exciting and packed with adventure days. There were four of with the driver being the 5th. The car was spacious enough for all of us. The views are amazing and changing the whole time so I doesn’t get boring. You are physically in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan during the trip but you are also able to see and feel what Afganistan looks like from across the river. The journey is great for anyone that likes nature, a little hardship especially with the high altitudes, off-roading and going out of their comfort zone. I highly recommend this trip for a group of 3 or 4 friends.

5.00Absolutely incredible experience. We had the best driver (Jomart), felt very safe in his hands on all of the difficult roads. All of the home stays were incredible, even if they were primitive (part of the experience). Everyone was so nice, and the views were incredible. Once in a lifetime experience, would definitely recommend it to everyone!

5.00I just finished the Pamir Highway tour with Visit Alay and it was incredible. The landscapes were among the most beautiful I have ever seen — vast plateaus, alpine lakes and breathtaking mountain passes. Special thanks to my driver Sali, who knew the region extremely well, drove with great skill, and taught me so much about the local culture and history of the Pamir. Every day was a discovery. Highly recommend Visit Alay — and ask for Sali. An unforgettable experience.

5.00Really enjoyed this 7 day tour of the pamir mountains. I felt supported the whole journey, and the scenery was breathtaking. I appreciated all the stops we did along the way, and the places we stayed. Our driver Ismail was an experienced and safe driver, which I appreciated on the Tajik roads. Would recommend to anyone looking to travel through the region with a guide.

5.00I enjoyed seven days of Pamir highway in a small group with a good car and a goid driver for less than 500 euros, which is a great price for a trip like this. I can only recommend Alay! :-)

5.00I did the 9 day Dushanbe to Osh tour, and it was an 10/10 experience that I would highly recommend. Seeing the diverse landscapes, meeting the local people, and having so many new experiences was amazing. Our guide Nurbek was great, he was always calm even when our itinerary changed last minute due to a landslide - he took us to do an additional hike instead and it was a great day.
