I (Captain Matt) along with my crew member take our guests out for an incredible experience on the waters in and around Sitka Sound viewing the breathtaking scenery and enjoying diverse wildlife encounters! You may see many if not all of the following wildlife, Humpback whales, Sea Lions, Sea Otters, Harbor Seals, Ravens, Bald eagles, shearwaters, cormorants, 2 types of puffins, and many other sea birds too numerous to mention.
Bears are regularly viewed in the late summer early fall, and occasionally viewed in the spring.
As I have had a long career commercial fishing in Southeast Alaska, I give unique insight into the local fishing industry. Both my crew and I will also enlighten you on local history and life in Sitka.
To ensure your experience is genuine, my crew is always either one of my family, or a local hire that truly knows Sitka. We live it year round!!

5.00Great experience with captain Matt. Small group, it was like a private tour. Boat was spotless, with a large enclosed viewing area, great to get out of the weather. Saw humpback and gray whales, otters, sea lions Matt took us back to our ship dock at the end of the tour that saved us 30 minutes and the shuttle and alleviated any anxiety about missing our ship!! Highly recommend!!

5.00Captain Matt took great care of our family of 7 on our afternoon tour. Boat was spacious with enclosed area with large picture windows where you could see and get out of the cold. Boat was spotless and clean. Coffee, hot chocolate, teas and snacks were provided. Matt brought us right back to our ship dock so we didn’t have to hassle with the shuttle and saved us 30 minutes getting back to the ship. Eased any anxiety about getting back to the ship on time. Our tour ended at 4 when Matt dropped us at the dock !! Great job! Small group, it was like a private tour!

5.00Captain Matt and the crew were very personable. They thoroughly enjoyed sharing their love of Alaska and the sea life that surrounds them. Really enjoyed seeing the humpback whale, gray whale, sea otters and sea lions. Highly recommend.

5.00Matt is an excellent boat driver and an expert on the area. He finds the best spots for viewing the wildlife.
Matt and Sophie were amazing! They tailored the excursion to where all of the animals were/had been sighted!

5.00We were on Norwegian Bliss and opted for a tour not offered by the cruise line. Matt and Sophie were very knowledgeable and taught us a lot! They were sure to take us where the animals were and tailored the journey to the animals locations. I would recommended them 100% and if we come back again, we will go one their tour again! BEST TOUR I HAVE EVER DONE!!!

5.00We booked a family of 10 while visiting Sitka on Virgin Voyages Brilliant Lady cruise ship. Of highest importance was catering for my wife in a wheelchair. We booked direct via Viator (as opposed to cruise ship tour) Matt, the skipper and owner and his assistant were fantastic. Hard to find greater passion when you built the boat and the business. Their knowledge of the Sitka area and places to search out the wild life was clearly evident to us all. We managed to see whales, seals, otters and eagles. Ask about Domino the whale. Apart from the wild life the scenery from the water was incredible for a boat full of Australians The boat provided a good mix of out door area and indoor warmth when needed. For anyone wanting a wheelchair friendly tour with the Alaskan sea-life id highly recommend this tour. Although we picked the tour in town, Matt dropped us literally back at the stern of our cruise boat.

5.00I was so happy to directly book with this amazing local crew for this cruise! I was lucky to have a gorgeous day, and we saw a grey whale, sea lions, otters, bald eagles. I highly recommend!

5.00Had an amazing time! Matt did his absolute best to make sure we saw as much sea life as possible, and had tons of facts and info along the way. We went the end of May and I would recommend dressing in layers. It did get a little chilly but with layers we were plenty warm. Highly recommend!
