This is more than a volcano hike. It’s a journey through the region most affected by Iceland’s recent eruptions, guided by locals from Grindavík and Keflavík who experienced these events firsthand.
Explore the volcanic landscapes surrounding Fagradalsfjall, where fresh lava flowed as recently as July 2025. Walk across newly formed terrain, discover steaming geothermal areas, and learn how repeated eruptions have reshaped both the land and the lives of the people who call this region home.
Along the way, visit the fishing town of Grindavík and hear the story of a community that has lived through one of the most remarkable volcanic periods in Iceland’s modern history.
✔️ Local guides with firsthand experience of the eruptions
✔️ Visit Grindavík and explore Iceland’s newest volcanic landscapes
✔️ Small-group experience with time to ask questions and explore
✔️ Learn about geology, local life, and the ongoing changes across the region
✔️ Every tour is different, with some special touch

The Volcano tour was an amazing experience! Thorey was very informative and very considerate of all the group members. I dont think we would have had the same experience of the area and the eruptions if we had chose to go it alone.

This tour was really cool, to see the lava and be able to touch it was an amazing experience. Our guide Oddi was very entertaining, and he answered all our questions.

Beyond in love with this tour and glad we didn’t do the drive behind option. We not only learned so much about the location but got to hear stories from our guide Oddi. His knowledge of the culture opened our eyes more on our adventures. Sadly I lost my younger brother 15 days before the Iceland trip so my father joined me so i could still go. They allowed us to have a memorial moment with the group and then time alone while in the lava fields to remember him. It was a special tour and everyone should do it! Make the time! :)

We had the best hike with our guide Haffi! He was so knowledgeable about volcanic activity on the island and is local to Grindavik so he could share the impact of recent eruptions on the local community. He also has a surprise that is quite special! Our family was thrilled with the experience.

Brilliant tour led by superb guide Oddi. The liquid lava had passed, but seeing what it had done to Grindavik and surrounding mountains and valleys is fascinating. Tour is a must for volcano enthusiasts
