Chinese Fishing Nets
Chinese fishing nets(Cheena vala)are a type of stationary lift net in India. They are fishing nets that are fixed land installations for fishing. While commonly known as Chinese fishing nets in India, the more formal name for such nets is shore operated lift nets. Huge mechanical contrivances hold out horizontal nets of 20m or more across. Each structure is at least 10m high and comprises a cantilever with an outstretched net suspended over the sea and large stones suspended from ropes as counterweights at the other end which is operated by a team of up to six fishermen. While such nets are used throughout coastal southern China and Indochina, in India they are mostly found in the Indian cities of Kochi and Kollam, where they have become a tourist attraction. This way of fishing is unusual in India and almost unique to the area, as it was introduced by Chinese explorers who landed there in the 14th century. Indeed, one interpretation of city name Kochi is ‘co-chin', meaning like China

What started as a one‑day hire turned into an entire week, exploring Kochi in a way few visitors ever get to—discovering places you won’t find on any map.Anas is truly rare. 5.00We had driver for two days and he was very pleasant helpful and patient taking us from one location to another and patiently waiting as we watched dance shows went to palaces and museums and synagogues He was very good natured and tried hard to recommend places to us and to take us to eateries etc He was prompt in picking us up and had pride in his vehicle and his work We were very happy with him

5.00I had wonderful time exploring Fort Kochi! The entire experience was memorable and we really enjoyed visiting the well-known local spots and soaking in the charm of the area. From the historic streets to the beautiful seaside views everything was delightful. A special thanks to the driver Sanu, who made the journey even more enjoyable. He was friendly professional and very knowledgeable about the local people and famous places around Fort Kochi. His recommendations and guidance helped me experience the best of the area comfortably and safely. Recommend service!!!!

5.00Incredible tour of Kochi with the man the legend Rami he took us everywhere historic and cultural for a great price too. He even threw in a roof top bar with full size snooker tables when we asked where the best place to grab a beer was. Can't wait to come back one day!
