Sarnath
We will visit Sarnath, the most famous pilgrimage for Buddhists in India. Lord Buddha gave his first sermon here after attaining enlightenment in the year 528 BC. The great Mauryan Emperor Ashoka built magnificent stupas and monasteries in this area in the 3rd century BC. He also erected a column 15.24 m in height which had four lions and this was later adopted as the national emblem of India.

5.00The tour of Sarnath was organised very well. An air-conditioned car picked us up from the hotel lobby with a driver and a guide. Our guide Prakash was brilliant and gave us a wonderful experience of sarnath. We visited the legendary pillar of Ashoka, the bodhi tree and many more sites connected with the Buddha. Lunch was organised at a local restaurant and it was very good. A very memorable trip and highly recommended.
