This isn't just "old jewelry." The Holy Crown of Hungary has a history more dramatic than a Netflix series—it’s been stolen, buried, lost, and returned by the U.S. government. You will stand in the massive, 27-meter-high Dome Hall, watched over by stoic guards with drawn sabers, to see the crown and its tilted cross up close. It’s the symbolic heart of the nation.
You’ll ascend the Grand Stairway, a space so opulent it makes most European palaces look like a DIY renovation. Imagine walking past massive granite columns—of which only 12 exist in the entire world—under ceilings painted by Károly Lotz. Every inch of the walls is covered in gold leaf and intricate frescoes that tell the story of a thousand-year-old kingdom.

Hungarian Parliament Building
Booking a tour of the Hungarian Parliament isn't just a building walk-through; it’s a deep dive into the "Golden Age" of Budapest. As one of the largest and most expensive legislative buildings in the world (housing roughly 40kg of 22-carat gold), the experience is designed to be as grand as the history it holds. This group buys up all the tickets to Parliament then charges double an already expensive entry. Don’t use them. If you can’t get a ticket from Parliament website, go in person day of. They appeared to have many spots open. These folks just gather you in a group and hand tickets out. No value add. The tour itself is pretty but short/pre recorded audio guide.

It was very difficult and confusing to find a guide to give us the ticket. We were told to be there half an hour earlier and she showed up only 10 minutes prior to our scheduled visit. Even after her arrival, it took a long time to find our way where the actual entrance was and we were given a ticket for 15 minutes later then our schedule time was

The audio tour was great for the hearing impaired adults in our group. The tour was a nice pace- plenty of time to listen and look. A very beautiful parliament building with lots of history.

We were summoned at 9:00 AM (30 minutes before our visit). The person who welcomed us before entry arrived 15 minutes late. Moreover, she was not identifiable (no Tripadvisor sign or Ticket compass). Finally, we entered around 10:00 AM. Some people who had not reserved entered before us simply by going to get their ticket at the counter. The visit itself is too structured, leaving no time to appreciate the different rooms.

The parliament tour itself is good and should not be missed. The problem is that tour operators buy all of the tickets months ahead, so they are not available (ie sold out) online (I tried beginning 6 months prior to our visit!). For a non-EU citizen, the regular cost from the government web site is $42, but booking through Viator cost me $150 for two people - all they do is meet you at the door and hand you the tickets to enter.

Nice 45 minute tour of a small part of the huge building. Very impressive architecture. Buy your tickets directly long before your trip. Don’t use viator unless you have to. They buy tickets and jack up prices. I waited too long to purchase so I had no choice of if I wanted the tour b

In terms of organization, everything is well explained by Viator; you need to leave your IDs or passports with the person waiting for you to hand over your entry tickets. The tour disappointed me because it was expensive compared to what we saw (a lot of waiting for 4 empty rooms); seeing the outside is sufficient for my part....

Significant wait before entering; the person who welcomed us was late and was not clearly identified. The visit itself is very structured; it’s a shame, we don’t have time to appreciate the different rooms.

Easiest way to get tickets but you overpay for the privilege. Buy tickets directly to save a lot of money. The guide literally just hands out tickets and says that you are on your own now.
