On Lake Bodom, the largest in the Helsinki region, located just 25 minutes from central Helsinki, I invite you to an ice fishing initiation using the Pilkki, the Nordic fishing rod! Once there we will walk on the lake to find the ideal place where there is the best chance of catching fish.
I will then explain how to make a hole in the ice and how to use the pilkki. Then it's up to you! You will be ready to catch lots of fish!
At the end, in a Laavu, the traditional refuge, I will make a fire to be able to grill the makkara, the traditional sausages. There is also an option for vegetarians. I will also serve you a delicious glögi as well as piparri, traditional cookies.

Ice fishing is one of the most popular traditional Nordic activities in Finland in winter. During this unforgettable experience, in a unique natural setting, I will combine all the chances on our side to fish for fish such as perch, pike or even pike-perch. We will end this magnificent experience around a fire to taste delicious grilled sausages accompanied by glögi and piparri, the traditional Christmas cookies.

5.00Bathrooms limited. Didn’t catch any fish but the experience was wonderful. Fireside Finnish sausage was tasty. Not a big licorice fan but our guide had some for us to try and it was surprisingly tasty.

5.00We had a great time. Ice fishing was super fun although we didn’t catch anything we still enjoyed the experience. It was great to do something so unique. Afterwards David cooked us some sausages and some other treats which were super scrummy. Would 100% go again. The lake where we went was also beautiful and for us it was amazing to be stood on a frozen lake.
