This is the perfect trip for nature lovers, photographers, and experienced hikers hoping to avoid the busier main tourist path and take time to focus on a deeper immersion into nature.
The hike starts with a short, steep climb from the car park before we detour into a rarely used hidden trail that winds its way through the forests, mountains, and lakes. As we hike, your guide will take time to highlight and sample different species of plants, berries, mosses, and lichens, and provide insights into local fauna and cultural heritage.
The final section of the hike culminates in a mountain top with spectacular views of Stavanger, the Lysefjorden and Preikestolen from above - views not seen by the majority of hikers! After enjoying these views, we descend down to the Pulpit Rock to enjoy peering into the fjord below. After a relaxing break here, we choose our preferred return route back to the trailhead.
Can be adapted to suit cruise shore excursions.

5.00Kenny was a SUPER-DUPER tour guide! He brought us up to Preikestolen on a different way through the woods. I personally really appreciated it, because this way was way less crowded. He showed us every iconic, scenic spot, and also made very good photos of us if we asked him. What I appreciated particularly is that he was always there where he had to be. He leaded the group on the front sometimes, but also went back to the last person and provided support. When I was a bit slower downhill because of my painful toenail, he always waited for me with the group ahead. A very supportive, very thoughtful and very experienced tour guide! My friends and I would go to any other hike with him. 🙌

5.00We took the side trail and saw almost no one the whole way up, a miracle for such a busy hike. Kenny was a terrific guide, friendly, encouraging, and informative and right on time for pickup. Really fun outing

5.00Our guide Erlend was fantastic!. He made an excellent hike and gorgeous view even better. Rather than taking the standard trail up we took what seemed a private trail. We experienced sites that the orderly hikers would never see. I highly recommend this company for your next hiking adventure.

5.00Our guide Kenny was absolutely fantastic from the moment he picked us up. He made sure everyone in our group was happy and ok throughout the entirety of the hike and kept us all entertained - he knew the best spots and took photos for everyone in our group. 100% would recommend and will use Fjordhikes again in the future.

5.00Erlend was an excellent, personable guide. Deeply knowledgeable about natural world. Very entertaining, patient with a small group of hikers who were at differing levels of proficiency. Great dog!! A very fun day. Highly recommend.

5.00Great tour, fantastic weather, didn’t take the usual path to avoid crowds on the way up. Felt always safe and the guide was really very experienced, a studied Biologist so could explain about the birds and plants along the way and knew all the photogenic stops. We came in above Preikestolen snd so could take great pictures from above. It’s quite strenuous and exhausting and the guide walks fast, but worthwhile every step of the way. What I really appreciated was that they kept doing the tour although I was the only person. So, it was really exclusive and I much appreciated. I can recommend the company and to book directly with them. They offer different types of tours in the region including several day trips and special tours like mushroom picking in autumn, kayaking or winter tours. Would always book again with them when in the region including several.
The experience wouldn't have been the same without our guide

5.00Stephan was an experienced and wonderful guide, who took into account our abilities and wishes before choosing a hidden path that was quite and took us past some breathtaking views even before we got to Preikestolen. We had time to enjoy the views and take pictures. Stephan also took some lovely pictures which he shared with us. Even though my son had no trouble hiking up the trail, it was challenging for me. However Stephan was very considerate, distracting me from the strain of the hike by keeping up an easy conversation and taking short brakes so I could catch my breath.

5.00Stephan was super nice, because my mom was struggling with some stamina issues and he took breaks with us without us having to ask for it. He was kind and helped us on difficult parts, because he took us on the sideway. That was awesome, it was so beautiful! He even helped us with some dinner choices and brought us home. Stephan was the best.

5.00I'm really excited. Everything went smoothly. Although I was the only one who booked the tour that day, it took place. I was accompanied by a super nice and experienced guide, Erlend, with his dog Balder. We did not go the main way, but the remote way through nature, where he could tell me a lot about the plants, animals and history of the region. If you really want to experience Norway and nature, away from all the tourism, I can really only recommend this tour to everyone.

5.00Just had the most amazing day hiking up to Preikestolen with Alan as our guide. Wow! What an incredible day! If we could have given it more than 5 stars we would have done. From the moment that we were picked up, to the much needed coffee at the end, we were entertained, informed and most importantly, expertly guided off the beaten track to the most incredible viewpoint. Would thoroughly recommend this company. Thank you to Alan and his four-legged friend, Balder.
