Higashi Chaya District
A chaya (lit. teahouse) is an exclusive type of restaurant where guests are entertained by geisha who perform song and dance. During the Edo Period, chaya were found in designated entertainment districts, usually just outside the city limits. Kanazawa has three, well preserved chaya districts, Higashi Chayagai (Eastern Chaya District), Nishi Chayagai (Western Chaya District) and Kazuemachi.
Kenrokuen Garden
Kenrokuen (兼六園) in Kanazawa is justifiably classified as one of Japan's "three most beautiful landscape gardens" alongside Mito's Kairakuen and Okayama's Korakuen. The spacious grounds used to be the outer garden of Kanazawa Castle and were constructed by the ruling Maeda family over a period of nearly two centuries. Opened to the public in 1871, Kenrokuen features a variety of flowering trees which provide the garden with a different look for each season.

5.00Hiro was the most amazing guide who took us on our favorite tour of our trip to Japan. He was knowledgeable and kind and treated my 85 year old dad with grace. He took us to an amazing 21st century art museum which we would not have thought to go to and a silk dying museum with great exhibits and souvenirs. Thank you, Hiro!

5.00Our driver Waka went above and beyond. Not only did he bring us to each destination quickly and comfortably, he also personally guided us around certain sites such as Kanazawa Castle and Kenrokuen Garden, providing extra information and context to our visit to Kanazawa.

5.00We had a wonderful time. This was one of our most favorite places to visit, just because it was absolutely beautiful. Our driver was Mai, and she gave us excellent service. She took us to all the hot spots and even got us into a tea room tasting at the gardens near the castle. She had water and umbrellas for us, too. She took excellent care of us and we enjoyed every stop!

5.00Got the highlights of the city on our own pace. Some more free time in the Geisha district to roam the shops would be fun but ultimately we had an extra half day in Kanazawa to do that. Our guide Hiro was very knowledgable.
