My wife and I engaged Viator / Japan Wonder Travel to supply a four hour private tour of Kanazawa (Japan) in late March 2026. Our travel agent had passed on details of ten sites as provided by Viator and we were unsure of how many to try to visit. Fortunately, our appointed guide KAZ T contacted us nearly two weeks before the tour to introduce herself and ask some basic questions about our likes, interests, and abilities. That was very useful. She then asked us to rank the available attractions and produce a shortlist. Over a few emails we refined this to something that was achievable, so when she arrived at out hotel a polite Japanese 10 minutes early, we were set to go. We used a mixture of taxi and walking to visit Myoryuji - Ninja Temple, Kenrokuen Garden, Ruins of Nagamachi Bukeyashiki (Samurai District) including restored samurai residences, and more!. KAZ T was a very knowledgeable and pleasant guide with exceptional English and understanding of English-speaking people (we are Australians). She had some very insightful ‘key points’ posters that helped us imprint essential messages and she quickly learned how much detail to give us. She quickly understood that while we had an interest in facts, we also wanted to enjoy the atmosphere of the wonderful places. We probably drove her to distraction while we photographed everything, but she was very patient. And an expert at time management. We squeezed in a coffee on the way (waiting out a brief shower) and well past the official end of the tour, KAZ T steered us to a local post office where she helped us navigate the system to send a letter home. People still do ‘post’ in the old way, sometimes, and use a post office. Thanks to KAZ T for a wonderful tour and for the chance to get to know her a little. We loved Japan and she was a worthy ambassador and a true professional
