Discover the magical wonderland of Lake Myvatn and Godafoss Waterfall with an experienced local tour guide. We set off from Akureryi Port stopping at the stunning Godafoss waterfall and then onto the famous Lake Myvatn area. in Lake Myvatn area we visit the Dimmuborgir Lava formations and the Námafjall area where you can view the bubbling Hverir Mud pools and Natural steam vents or fumaroles. We also stop at Myvatn Nature Baths where you can enjoy the baths and cafe (Please note the entrance fee to the Nature Baths is NOT included). Passengers can also opt to skip the Nature bath and visit Grjotagja cave and rift instead. This great value tour includes a small group tour with an experienced local tour guide and transport. We offer free pick up and drop off to Akureyri Port.

We visit the main sites in Lake Myvatn including Námaskarð where you can see the bubbling Hverir mud pools and natural steam vents (fumaroles), the Dimmuborgir Lava formations and the Myvatn Nature Baths (please note the entrance fee to the Nature Baths is not included). For those who do not want to use the Nature Baths we can take you to Grotcaja cave and rift while others use the Nature Baths.

5.00Fabulous tour and guide/driver. Loved every bit of it especially crawling into the beautiful cave and walking around the thermal pools and mid pools of 200 degrees. Waterfalls were spectacular.

4.00The Iceland experience was almost perfect. The HK cruise/expedition itself was wonderful, and my wife and I couldn’t ask for more/better. The cabin was comfortable and accommodating. Breakfast. Lunch, & Dinner were exceptional. Beverages were to our satisfaction. Now for what wasn’t up to expectations. I thought everything was booked via HK but not quite. For air travel I requested a window seat and the adjacent seat. On the flight to Iceland my wife and I had an aisle seat and the adjacent seat. On the flight back to Chicago the seating was as requested. Transfers were supposed to be included or so I thought. We arrived a day early and we were met by HK at the airport for the transfer from the Keflavik Airport to the Raddison Hotel in Reykjavik. The next day, HK picked us up at the hotel for the transfer to the ship. During the voyage I became aware there was no transfer from the ship to the airport for the return flight to Chicago! I assumed this had been done because the return flight had been booked by HK and thought they would know my wife and I needed transport from the ship to the airport. WRONG. No such transfer was included. I discovered this 2-days before the end of the voyage. I went to the expedition team to have them arrange a transfer I was told NO because all the reservations had been made/taken and my wife and would have to take a taxi to the airport. The person I interfaced about this on the ship wasn’t very helpful and insisted there wasn’t space available for this transfer. I then checked the HK app, and it did show transfers were available. I mentioned this to the person I originally spoke with, and he said the app is incorrect about transfers! I told him he should speak to the developer to correct this. Ended up taking a taxi which cost about 60 Euros more than the price shown on the HK app. While waiting at the Keflavik airport I noticed busses from the ship arriving with fellow passengers. I checked with the bus driver on one bus to see if it was full or not. I was informed about half full. I’m not sure WHY I couldn’t get a transfer on one of these, but I want to make mention of it. In the future I will be checking my reservations thoroughly to insure nothing is missing. As for ratings: Cruise 5*, Initial Reservation 3*, Transfer Assistance on Board 1*

5.00This was a very interesting tour. The meet up was very easy to find and the bus was very comfortable. The bubbling, steaming mud was the highlight. Norbert was very knowledgeable and shared interesting information about life in Iceland. He also went out of his way to accommodate everyone on the tour.
