Departing Edinburgh, travel north into Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, with a relaxed morning refreshment stop in the Highland town of Callander.
The journey continues through Rannoch Moor, one of Scotland’s most remote landscapes, before stopping in Glencoe to admire its dramatic scenery and learn about the events that shaped this iconic glen.
Travelling through Fort William, there is an opportunity to view Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest mountain, from the minibus on clear days, before following the Great Glen to Fort Augustus, at the southern end of Loch Ness.
This is the main stop of the day, allowing time for lunch, exploring the village, watching boats pass through the Caledonian Canal locks, or joining an optional Loch Ness cruise (available on the day, payable locally).
The return journey travels through the Highlands and Perthshire, with an evening refreshment stop before arriving back in Edinburgh, with views of the Forth Bridge on the approach.

Our first stop of the day is in the Highland town of Callander, where we pause for refreshments before continuing north.
Glencoe
One of Scotland’s most iconic and atmospheric valleys, Glencoe is renowned for its dramatic scenery and powerful history. We stop here to allow guests to step off the minibus, take photographs, and admire the landscape while learning more about the events that shaped this famous glen.

5.00The pick up was seamless, the coach was really comfortable & Stuart, our tour guide, was great. The scenery is incredible and you have time for an optional cruise on Loch Ness, which I really enjoyed. It’s a long day of driving, but you get to see a lot of the highlands in a single day. Highly recommended!!

5.00Kyle, our driver, was very knowledgeable, friendly, helpful beyond measure and entertaining. We learned so much about Scottish history, the Gaelic language and he made it fun and memorable. We enjoyed the countryside very much, and visiting the Highland Coos was a total treat ... thank you, Kyle! The Loch Ness boat tour was a bit disappointing, but the remainder of the tour made up for it. We met a great group of fellow travelers as well. We highly recommend this tour, and Kyle specifically.
Small bus tour was the ideal size.

5.00The Scottish Highlands are indescribably beautiful. You have to see them to believe it. This was a small bus tour - just the perfect amount of people. Sandy gave us a lively account of historic events and interesting geological facts.

5.00Journeyed the Highlands, seeing Glencoe, Loch Ness and the coos. Sandy was a wonderful guide - loved the informative parts and bits of humour spread in. Would definitely recommend anyone travelling here to do the tour with Discover Scotland!!

5.00It was a long day but Wee Stevie, our driver and our guide, was full of historical information and he even got us all stomping our feet and clapping to his favorite play lists. The highland countryside is lush green and full of amazing history. Even though the weather was mostly overcast and rainy (the Loch Ness boat ride was anticlimactic) you can't wait around Scotland for perfect weather. Embrace it and enjoy it like we did!

5.00My mother and I had planned a trip to Loch Ness with Gray Line on Sunday, May 17th. At the last minute they cancelled without warning ! We were angry and disappointed. We found another group right next to us going on a similar excursion and asked if there was still places for the two of us in their minibus. Sandy did everything he could with the tour operator so we could join the adventure. He saved our day literally and was an exemplary tour guide! Funny, knowledgeable, interested, patient, and very dedicated to ensuring his travelers had a memorable day, he was perfect from beginning to end, sharing lots of anecdotes and stories about so many subjects and showing us incredible places! A huge thank you to Sandy and Discover Scotland Tours for allowing us to experience this day in the best possible way!!

3.00First of all, we need to preface this by saying - we are a young couple (early 30s), who are quite sporty and love to learn about new places. We expected that the trip would last long (that's all clearly stated in the information). However, we also thought that we would hear more about Scotland and its history, geography, tidbits... And we did hear some... But for a 9 hour bus ride, definitely insufficient. We would have definitely enjoyed more talking from the tour guide/driver. Without that, this is just a long bus ride to take photos 5 or 6 times. Plus, if you don't want to go on the Loch Ness cruise, you're really stuck in For Augusta which is small town with nothing to do (OK, good fish & chips).
