St. Peter's Church is a church in Melaka City, Melaka, Malaysia. It is the oldest functioning Roman Catholic church in Malaysia and the third largest catholic church in Melaka City after the Church of St. Francis Xavier (Melaka) and St. Theresa's Church (Melaka) in Gajah Berang, a district located north from St Peter's church. The Portuguese occupation of Melaka ended when Melaka fell to the Dutch in 1641.This was followed by period of persecutions of the Catholics in Melaka by the Dutch. Churches were destroyed and Catholics were not permitted to have their own cemeteries or even pray in their homes. Priests were also forbidden from administering their flocks. After years of persecutions, a piece of land was donated by a Dutch convert named Maryber Franz Amboer in the District of Saba in which the first priest, Fr. Domingos Monteiro, named it after the patron saint of fishermen for the Portuguese Catholic and thus St. Peter's Church was built in 1710
Saint Paul's Church is a historic church building in Malacca City, Malaysia, that was originally built from 1566 to 1590. It is the oldest European building east of India. It is located on the summit of St. Paul's Hill. The first Catholic Church in Malacca was "Our Lady of the Annunciation," built by the Portuguese viceroy and military commander Afonso de Albuquerque at the bottom of the Hill near the colonial castle A Famosa in 1511. It later became the Cathedral Our Lady of the Assumption. With the conquest of Malacca by the protestant Dutch in 1641, the church was renamed for Dutch Reformed use as "St. Paul's Church". The church remained in use as the main church of the protestant Dutch community until the completion of the Benedenkerk Christ Church Malacca in 1753. As early as 1744, the church was used as a powder magazine. When the British occupied Malacca in 1824, the church continued to be used as a powder magazine.

We did Malacca UNESCO Heritage Day Shares Tour from Kuala Lumpur on Sunday. There were no other people on the tour and our guide Steven picked us up, showed all historic places and dropped us back at the hotel. Steven was very informative and polite. He recommended a restorant with delicious food, gave us free time to explore Jonker Str and navigated very well through the heavy traffic on the way back.

After this tour, I think I might joined the wrong tour, because we have to figure out everything ourself. The driver only drove us to the location(s), and gave some minimum explanation of the "history", and you go figure. Basically, as long as you are happy with just a chauffeur service, this would be a good enough.

We had a great guide called Jin he was on time and very friendly. He explained the schedule of the day. 2 hours by car from KL. unfortunately it’s rained a lot the second part of tour so we had to miss out on some sights. Overall Jin was a great guide spoke good English and drove safely in clean car. We totalled 5 people. I would recommend him.

I can definitly recommend the tour to Malacca, when you want to have a short and interesting time there. We were picked up at our hotel in chinatown by Steven. We were lucky to get a privat tour, because there were no other registrations. We visited all the important locations in Malacca and got a nice overview of the city. When we wanted we were also able to go inside a church or a museum. Steven told us a lot about the history. He could answer all our questions and gave us recommendations for our last day in Kuala Lumpur. We liked his calm demeanor during the trip. Thank you!

Rin our guide was relaxed and cheerful. He drove well, and gave us great background not just on history but on the make-up of Malaysia's varied peoples and cultures today. He showed us important sites as well as being considerate about basic comforts and necessities.

Highly recommended! The tour company was quite flexible & accommodating, and our tour guide (Steven) was knowledgable & easy-going. Great tour for travelers seeking a relaxed itinerary that isn't too grueling. The car had great air-con. It's hot & humid in Malaysia, though, so come prepared with plenty of sunscreen, cool water & lightweight clothing for the walking portions of the tour!

We had a very nice experience on this day excursion from Kuala Lumpur with our Driver and Guide Steven. Steven was prompt, courteous, informative, and a very good driver on the busy roads! We experienced the beauty and history of a Christian church, a Muslim mosque, and a Japanese temple. We learned quite a bit about the history of Malacca, from establishment by the Portuguese, the overtaking by the Dutch and then the British occupation, followed by the independence of the country in the mid 1950s. The tour ended with a nice variety of highlights near Chinatown. We experienced historic fort ruins, the remnants of a historic church, beautiful red-stone government buildings, and the bustling Jonker Street for shopping and unique cuisine. Well done!!
