This tour is priced for a minimum group size of two travellers. A solo traveller may still book this private experience but will be charged the base rate for two travellers.
Please wear comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather conditions on the day. Keep in mind that Melbourne’s weather can be unpredictable. This tour will run rain, hail or shine.
This is a child-friendly tour. Children under the age of 6 are permitted to join this tour free of charge. Please inform us at the time of booking if you’ll be bringing a child under the age of 6.

On this tour, we'll celebrate the local foodie culture at the famous Queen Victoria Market, the largest open-air market in Australia. With your local host and intimate group, you’ll discover the best of Melbourne’s bustling markets and multicultural community. Learn about local gastronomic culture as well as the history and culinary traditions that are unique to the city. We’ll visit the market in the morning hours before the rush. This will allow you time to interact with the vendors, as you gain rare insight into the history of the city and how the character of Melbourne has developed. Melbourne's oldest markets are packed with stories, and we’ll include plenty of samples, tastings, and time for you to explore, so you can get the true experience. Hear about how immigration has been a driving force in Melbourne which gives the city such a unique vibe. After the tour continue shopping on your own or ask your guide for some ideas of how to spend your afternoon.

5.00We are from Ballarat and I am a travel agent. We had a visitor from Vietnam with us . I always do a market or foodie tour when I am away as it’s a great way to explore a new city . Today we did it in our own backyard and boy was I impressed . Anna was fabulous so engaging and informative . The history and stories behind the market made the tour special .I have been to the market before but will now look at it in a different light knowing these little things that bring it ti life . All thr store owners we visited were welcoming and Anna’s little treats along the way kept us wanting more . Anna’s passion shown through and we all said we would do another tour . If you have shopped at the market you know how good it is but this tour will make you appreciate it more .I can now go back to the market and know where I am going and the iconic stores to visit . Loved it 🩷 For visitors

5.00Thanks Anna for a delightful morning. Not only did we learn lots about the history of the Queen Vic Market but we sampled a terrific range of foods from charceuterie style to the iconic jam donuts. Highly recommend for visitors or even Melbournians who'd like to try something new 😀

5.00We had a great informative tour with Anna, exploring some true hidden gems of the Queen Victoria Market. She was informative and very insightful on the history and stories of the market. It was a great selection of foods we sampled and certainly opened our eyes to some wonderful vendors we wouldn’t have normally visited.
