Laguna Chaxa
At this stop, travelers will visit the impressive Chaxa Lagoon, located inside the Salar de Atacama and part of the Los Flamencos National Reserve (Soncor sector). The accredited guide will accompany you on a tour of the authorized trails, where you can observe up close Andean, Chilean and James flamingos, as well as other highland birds in their natural habitat. They will learn about the ecology of the salt flat, the formation of salt flats and the importance of this lagoon for the conservation of local fauna. They will also have time to take pictures of the unique landscape, with the Andes Mountains as a backdrop.
Piedras Rojas
At this stop, travelers will enjoy a guided walk through the viewpoint of Piedras Rojas, also known as Aguas Calientes III, a natural wonder characterized by its rock formations of intense reddish color, product of oxidized iron, contrasting with the turquoise waters of the lagoon. The guide will explain the geological formation of the place, as well as the altiplanic biodiversity that inhabits the area. Here visitors can take unique photographs of the landscape, one of the most impressive in the Chilean highlands.

The landscapes were out of this world, the experience was 10 out of 10, the guide David Dominguez was amazing, very insightful, very clear, and he knew everything we asked him, just like Paula and the van driver. 5.00A spectacularly beautiful and very interesting tour. Marta was a very friendly, helpful and well informed guide. She even gave us a detailed cloth map of the region after discovering that we were a couple of geographers! At the end of our tour Marta arranged a late lunch at a restaurant in San Pedro. It was a nice way to end a busy tour. Thank you so much Marta!
