Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna
Built by Emperor Franz Joseph to house the splendid imperial collections, it is now one of the world’s most important museums. Artefacts from ancient Egypt to classical antiquity to the late 18th century document the patronage and connoisseurship of the art-loving members of the House of Habsburg. In the Picture Gallery you can see celebrated master-pieces by Rubens, Rembrandt, Raphael, Vermeer, Velázquez, Titian and Durer, as well as the world’s largest collection of works by Bruegel. At the Kunstkammer Vienna goldsmith’s works such as the famous saliera by Benvenuto Cellini, sculptural masterpieces, filigree works in ivory, valuable timepieces and complex automata by the best and most famous artists of the day – each item unique in the world – provide an unrivalled cross-section through the history of art. Equally enjoyable for every art-lover is the magnificent building itself with its imposing staircase featuring a series of paintings on which Gustav Klimt collaborated.

4.00A lovely museum- loved soaking it in all in, though a little too large for a day. One comment- while old Romans and Egyptians tales are correctly referred to as Mythology, the same word is not use for biblical stories. I wonder why the testaments are not called Bibilical Mythology?

5.00The Kunst Museum is a must. It houses artwork obtained through the years by the Hapburgs and is very worthwhile to see. I especially enjoyed seeing the fine porcelains.

5.00This has got to be the most astonishing collection I've seen. The intensity of the riches is quite extraordinary....and there's so much of it.... Museum Fatigue is real! It is a must do, but it's best to concentrate on the parts that interest you most (and take some sitting breaks to clear the mind).... if you can pay full attention to the whole thing, you get got more stamina than I!
Of course, it is a must-see.

5.00As in many capitals, the Fine Arts Museum is a must-see in Vienna (for those interested in art). In magnificent buildings, countless major pieces are showcased. Rembrandt, Vermeer, and Brueghel are notably on the menu... ah! scrutinizing the details of "The Tower of Babel"... The afternoon was dedicated to the Egyptian collections, which contain many interesting pieces. In short, if you have only one cultural visit to make in Vienna: KHM
Skip this ticket and just buy it at the museum

2.00Don't buy this ticket. It does not allow you to skip the line. You still have to stand in line with everyone else and the cashier will scan the barcode and give you the actual ticket to get into the museum. I went inside stood in line and had to go back outside to get the entrance ticket. My fault for not reading the reviews that warned of this. Luckily, I went on a weekday and there was no line outside. The museum was awesome and a must see if you are in Vienna!
Activity great - but Viator is misleading

3.00Very interesting and definitely worth doing. The rating is lower because of Viator being misleading, not because of the activity itself. Firstly, you must go to the ticket office and exchange your voucher for a ticket, which is not made clear on the booking. Secondly, the very polite and friendly ticket office advisor said Viator bookings are problematic for them because they can never offer “skip the line” and they’ve asked Viator to stop offering this but they continue to do so. We happened to go on a day when it wasn’t busy, so queues weren’t an issue, but this could be very frustrating if it was a busy day.
the museum is wonderful...

5.00The museum is wonderful and I would definitely buy tickets before hand. The early ticket allows entry at opening time which allows you to view most of the exhibits before the crowds arrive.

2.00No such thing as “skip the line”. After waiting in line to get in, I was told I had to redeem my TripAdvisor voucher outside in the Group ticket line for a museum ticket, which was another long line. If I were to do it again I would book directly with the museum ahead of time.
The most beautiful museum we have been in.

5.00We have visited quite a few museums and both agree this is the most beautiful we’ve ever experienced . As you’ll see the museum is a masterpiece in and of itself. One floor of the museum is what I call their Junk Drawer as all of the priceless pieces in it don’t have a home in the other galleries so are all grouped more or less with similar collectables. The official description from their website is this: “The Kunstkammer of the Kunsthistorisches Museum is one of the world’s most important collections of its kind, spanning from the late Middle ages to the Baroque period. Members of the Habsburg family amassed numerous fascinating objects made of gold, silver, ivory, and other rare materials, such as precious stones, ostrich eggs, coral and shark teeth - some 2,200 of which can be admired in the Kunstkammer today. Highlights of the exhibition include the Saliera by Benvenuto Cellini, as well as technical masterpieces such as automata, clocks, and scientific instruments.”
If you bought a ticket here, you have to go to the ticket shop to change it. Not worth buying here

5.00Well worth the visit. It is a pity that TripAdvisor does not mention that tickets purchased here involve exchange for paper tickets at the ticket shop
