This tour can be customised to take you to any of the Speyside Distilleries. We have listed 6 of the most popular but we can take you to any and assist you with tour bookings etc.
We recommend that customers do one actual Distillery tour followed by tastings at 2 or 3 other Distilleries.
A suggested itininerary is as follows.
Leaving Inverness at 8am we travel down to Dufftown in the Heart of Speyside to arrive at the largest producing Distillery in Scotland - Glenfiddich for a Distillery tour and tasting , we then travel to Craigellachie to the Speyside Cooperage to see the skills of the Coopers before we have lunch at the Mash Tun in Aberlour.
Following lunch we travel a short distance to Glenallachie Distillery for a tasting , this Distillery is still in private hands and their 12 year old won the best Scotch Whisky in 2025.
Depending on whichever day the tour is we will stop at either Glenfarclas Distillery or Cardhu Distillery for our final tasting before travelling back.

Glenfiddich Distillery
Glenfiddich Distillery is one of the Speyside distilleries that we visit, bookings need to be made in advance, contact us to arrange a visit to this famous distillery . The tour takes 90 minutes and during the tour you will recieve tastings of the 12 year old , the 15 , 18 and 21 year old Glenfiddich whisky (for travelers with more them 18 years old).
The GlenAllachie Distillery
The GlenAllachie Distillery is a lovely Speyside distillery that visits can be arranged to. During the tour you will taste 2 drams of Glenallachie (for travelers more than 18 years old). Contact us in advance to assist you with booking times etc.

5.00Lawrence was fantastic. He was extremely knowledgeable about the area and the distilleries. He even knew some employees of employees personally so we got a more curated experience. Definitely recommend booking this tour if you love whiskey.

5.00Fabulous day with Lawrence. He is informative, a knowledgeable and friendly guide as well as providing copious information on Scottish history as well as the finer points of the whiskey industry. We had a lovely day and one of the highlights of our trip!! Highly recommend!!

5.00Incredibly pleasant trip from Inverness to various distilleries. Local known and nice driver who keeps the conversation running. Picking up at the residence, on the trip back we got set from us purchased items before we were driven out into the city.

5.00After months of checking reviews on private tour companies in Inverness & multiple emails with different companies Highlander Private Tours did not disappoint. My emails to Lawrence regarding a non-standard tour with a long list of distilleries that we wanted to see for my husband's birthday in various areas was immediately answered. It came to my attention that I had no idea how vast the area was! After great detailed emails from Lawrence he set an itinerary for the whiskey tours doing the areas we wanted. Turns out that instead of my planned 2 days using Highlander I ended up booking 4 ! We spent 2 days with Lawrence and his amazing knowledge of whiskies & everything in between, then 2 days with Billy (his brother) driving around Loch Ness viewing other places and distilleries. From picking us up at the airport to returning us for a flight home 9 days later Lawrence & Billy made us feel like family. They grew up here & the love they have for the area shines through when taking a tour, from old homes/castles/tiny towns/whiskey tours/lots and lots of sheep/tiny grocery store for a cinnamon pastry to crossing over the top of the mountain to take photos of the North Sea it was by far one of our top vacations. So much to say that we are planning another trip back because of Highlander Private Tours, with Lawrence & Billy you have made the right choice!

5.00Lawrence did a great job guiding our whiskey tour through Speyside. He has great knowledge of the local history, knew which distilleries we would enjoy the most, and adapted to our tight schedules. Lawrence goes the extra mile to make sure you see as much as possible and will recommend the best restaurant dishes (if he's been there).

5.00This was one of the best tours we’ve ever been on! Lawrence recommended a terrific slate of whisky tastings at a varied group of distilleries, including a stop at the Cooperage. His brother Billy picked us up from the hotel and was a delightful guide all day. He was extremely knowledgeable and went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying the day. The van was very large and accommodated the four of us (including 2 tall guys) very well. We highly recommend this tour!!
