Explore Vestmannaeyjar's famous duo: volcanoes and puffins. Known for its 1973 eruption and the world’s largest puffin colony, this island offers a unique adventure.
Join us on an ATV tour starting southward, where you'll see the famous "elephant rock." We'll then head to Stórhöfði for stunning views of the island cluster. On clear days, you can even spot Surtsey, the southernmost island formed in 1963. Stórhöfði is perfect for watching puffins play and hearing fascinating facts about them. This part is non-offroad.
Next, we venture off-road through lava fields, visiting Prestvik beach, where fishing ship Pelagus stranded, and visit the scene from "The Deep," where Guðlaugur Friðþórsson survived a cold sea swim. The tour continues to Eldfell volcano and along the coast with breathtaking views.
This family-friendly tour requires no prior ATV experience. Drivers need a license, and passengers must be 6+. All gear is provided, including waterproof overalls, gloves, and helmets.

Jump on an ATV with us and explore the most famous things Vestmannaeyjar has to offer, volcanic areas and puffins. We start the tour by going south along the island where we will, among other things, take a look at one of the most special landmarks on the island, the elephant or "elephant rock".
Storhofdi (Great Cape)
From elephant rock, we will drive towards Stórhöfði, where the small island cluster of Vestmannaeyja faces us in all its glory. When the weather is good and the Vestmannaeyjar are at their best, you can see all the way to Surtsey, but Surtsey is the southernmost island in the Vestmannaeyjar cluster and was formed in an underwater eruption on November 14, 1963. At Stórhöfði the view to all directions is magnificent, despite the fact that the weather can make you spin around as it is the windiest place in the country. We will take the walk to a special place and give ourselves plenty of time to observe the crown jewel of Vestmannaeyjar, the puffins, watch them play around on the slope, take off and come in to land while the guide tells us interesting facts about the puffins and their surroundings.

5.00I am 60 years old and have never been on an ATV. Alisa gave me the confidence to be able to drive it. I enjoyed the ride and learning about puffins and volcanoes. It was enjoyed by my husband and son as well.

5.00We had an amazing time on the Volcano & Puffin ATV Tour on Vestmannaeyjar (Westman Islands)! The scenery was absolutely stunning, and the combination of volcanic landscapes and puffin viewing made for a truly unique Icelandic adventure. A huge part of what made the experience so memorable was our tour guide, Viktoria. She was knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about the island and its history. She kept the tour fun, informative, and made sure everyone felt comfortable throughout the ride. Viktoria also deserves special recognition for her patience. The family on our tour required a level of diplomacy and understanding that would challenge even the most seasoned guide. She handled the situation with kid gloves when I thought boxing gloves might have been more appropriate! Her professionalism never wavered, and she kept the experience enjoyable for everyone. If you're visiting the Westman Islands, I highly recommend this tour. Great scenery, great adventure, and an outstanding guide. We'd do it again in a heartbeat! P.S. Give Viktoria a raise!

5.00This trip is epic and the best way to explore the island. Viktoria is a knowledgeable guide and she made driving an ATV (for only the 2nd time ever for me) simple and straightforward. I would definitely book this again!!

5.00Took about 10 minutes to get ready but then we were cruising. It was the way to see the island. Freaking blasting around, wind in your helmet, warm as a bug because they provide jumpers. It was sick. Mar was our guide. She did a phenomenal job explaining things and showing us the sights, while also directing us and keeping us safe as we cruised. We drove out to some cool vistas, saw the puffins nesting, and enjoyed the views. Seriously don't miss it!

5.00First we were reluctant when we saw the price, but at the end we thought it is totally worth it. The quads had enough power to drive over 50kmh even with two people on it. The overalls kept us warm and the dirt off. We were glad we left our car at the main land, it was not necessary that way. And not to forget our wonderful guide Alisa with whom we had so much fun, was patient to teach me how to guide the quad and gave plenty of extra information for our trip. Thanks!

5.00A great way to see the island and a lot of fun too! We saw lots of puffins, learned about “puffling patrol”, drove into the crater of the volcano and by the shore. Our guide was excellent and gave us a great recommendation for hiking afterwords. A great family memory.

5.00What a wonderful experience! My husband and I joined this tour booking on our own, but were traveling on a cruise ship. The tour was much better than the onboard excursion choices and Alicia was phenomenal. She made everyone feel comfortable, no matter the experience level and added thoughtful commentary and insight on historical elements. Overall she was a great guide and the tour was perfect. The meeting point was extremely easy to find and about 5 minutes walk from the dock/tender location.
