Glide across mirror-like lagoons as flocks of herons and egrets rise into the sky. This tour provides our guests a unique opportunity to experience wildlife in Belize in their natural habitat. The crooked tree lagoon is the largest wetland in the country and is co-managed by the Audubon Society. It provides an amazing bird-watching tour for the avid birder. Catch sight of the majestic Jabiru Stork, standing taller than a child — a rare encounter found in only a handful of places on Earth. This tour is the ideal activity for bird lovers and wildlife enthusiasts alike. Upon arrival at the Crooked Tree village, we change our mode of transportation by boarding a very nice motorboat accompanied by our expert bird guide. He then takes over the tour and captains the boat through the lagoon, pinpointing every bird and wild animal in the area. This isn’t just birdwatching. It’s stepping into a living sanctuary where every moment feels like a discovery waiting to happen.

This tour caters to wildlife enthusiasts and bird watchers. Here at the Crooked Tree Lagoon, the guests will see a wide variety of tropical water birds inside the largest wetland in the country as they traverse the lagoon by boat, accompanied by an expert birder. Besides birds, you also may get to see other wildlife such as green iguanas, howler monkeys, freshwater crocodiles, and manatees on a good day. All in their natural habitat.

5.00This trip was the highlight of our whole cruise trip around the northern Caribbean. Our driver and wildlife guide at Crooked Tree were first class. We stopped at a few spots on the way and back to view Storks and Herons on the roadside. At the reserve the amount of bird species and other wildlife was amazing. The boat trip through the the shallows and channels produced some of my best ever photographs of Herons and Egrets plus the beautiful Jacanas. Well done to all involved.
