Mount Kilimanjaro
You’ll be picked up in Moshi in the morning for a 1-hour drive to Kilimanjaro National Park’s Marangu Gate (1860m). After registration, your trek begins through the lush rainforest. Along the way, spot black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and various birds. Your English-speaking guide will share insights about the mountain’s plants and animals. You may also meet climbers descending from the summit, sharing stories that may inspire your own future climb. After a 3–4 hour hike, you’ll arrive at Mandara Hut (2700m) for lunch and a rest. A short walk (15 mins) leads to Maundi Crater, offering amazing views of Kilimanjaro, Northern Tanzania, and Kenya. You’ll then return to the gate (2–3 hours) where your driver will take you back to your hotel. Enjoy the sunset and reflect on the day’s adventure. • Altitude gain: 1860m to 2700m • Distance (one way): 8km • Hiking time: 3–4 hrs up, 2–3 hrs down (total 5–7 hrs) • Habitat: Mountain forest.

5.00Would absolutely recommend booking with Mount Meru Trekking! I was collected and dropped off at my hotel which was very conventient as a solo female traveler. The group’s guide Charles was awesome - so energizing and knowledgeable. Charles and the secondary guide made sure to check in with the group frequently to make sure everyone was okay. It was great having two guides as the group was able to split up to accommodate for different fitness & mobility levels. Lunch was also fabulous! So much food. Overall a fantastic experience. Just remember you have to pay for park entry when you arrive which is roughly $90USD, so make sure you have a working card.

1.00Unreliable & Unprofessional – Did Not Turn Up for Kilimanjaro Trek I had a confirmed arrangement with Mount Meru Trekking for a Kilimanjaro trek, coordinated through Charles Joseph, with Joseph assigned as the guide. Despite prior communication and planning, they did not turn up on the scheduled day. There was no proper explanation, no advance notice, and no responsible follow-up at a critical time when a traveller depends entirely on the operator. For an activity like Kilimanjaro trekking — which involves logistics, permits, time-bound schedules, and physical preparation — this level of unreliability is unacceptable. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Mount Meru Trekking, especially to international or time-sensitive travellers. Please be extremely cautious and have strong backups if you consider them.
