‘The Elephant Playground,’ as Tarangire is sometimes called, provides a spectacular destination for a memorable day-trip. Huge herds of elephant are a distinctive feature of Tarangire, but the grassland, swamps and floodplains found here are home to big cats, giraffe, baboons and hippo – plus many, many more species. Tree-climbing lions and rock pythons are other local specialities. Your afternoon game drive will seek out the varied animal and birdlife at Tarangire, a Tanzanian hidden gem, before you return to Arusha.

With an early pick from your Arusha hotel at 07.00, our two-hour drive will take us the 120km to Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s real treasures. You spend as much time as possible at the park, marveling at all its wonderful wildlife with the assistance and expert knowledge of your driver-guide. Tarangire National Park is primarily famous for the abundance of age-old baobabs and big families of elephants gathering in the vicinity of the main water source – the Tarangire River. Besides baby elephants and their parents the Tarangire is home to zebras, giraffes, hyenas, wart-hogs, buffaloes and many other predators and ungulates. You will have time to enjoy your picnic lunchbox, included as part of your day tour. At 16.00, we set off from the park to reach Arusha.

5.00Kaanaeli gave us with his great knowledge of wildlife and deep sense of their behavior and journey the best Safari experience. We got to see it all and had time to just be in the wild and observe the animals in their habitat.

5.00My family and I went on a 7-Day Safari Trip with Livingston and safe to say it was a 11/10 experience. Our guide, Ombeni, was so great with over 15 years of experience. Starting from the administrative aspect to the actual Safari trip, Livingstone was prompt at responding to emails, sent drivers on time for transportation, and was overall super friendly to work with. The Safari itself was beautiful and an extraordinary experience! The lodges we stayed at were beautiful and my family felt very safe with our guide. I would definitely come again in the future :)

5.00I would highly recommend Livingstone to anyone looking to plan a safari. Livingstone helped up to plan the most incredible safari for our family, which includes two young children. Livingstone planned everything for us and accommodated the kids. There were aspects we wanted to plan on our own. For example, I had some hotel points that worked for one of the lodges and helped us offset some costs. Every other company I spoke with would not allow us to plan one of the lodges on our own. Livingstone said no problem. Additionally, Livingstone beat all of the other companies on price! Last Livingstone connected us with the best driver in all of Tanzania, Ombeni. Ombeni was the reason our safari was such an amazing experience. He had a wealth of knowledge and experience that he used to make sure we had the most fabulous experience. If you are planning a safari, do yourself a favor and use Livingstone! Use a local company that supports the local economy!
