After breakfast, drive from Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park with packed lunch for a game drive. Mikumi is Tanzania’s fourth-largest national park. It’s also the most accessible from Dar es Salaam. With almost guaranteed wildlife sightings, the open horizons and abundant wildlife of the Mkata Floodplain, the popular center piece of Mikumi, draws frequent comparisons to the more famous Serengeti Plains. Head back to the lodge late afternoon for overnight.

Today, we head to Ruaha National Park where we will have a game drive in the afternoon. This is a more extensive ecosystem, which includes Rungwa Game Reserve, Usangu Game Reserve, and several other protected areas. The name of the park is derived from the Great Ruaha River, which flows along its South-Eastern margin and is the focus for game-viewing. Ruaha is believed to have a high concentration of elephants than any National Park in East Africa. It is also a place where, magnificent mammals like Kudu, Sable and Roan antelopes can easily be spotted in Miombo woodland. The park is also a habitat for endangered wild dogs. Other animals in the park include lions, leopards, cheetah, giraffes, zebras, elands, impala, bat eared foxes and jackals.

After breakfast, you dedicate these days in Ruaha for morning and afternoon game drives. You will have all meals at your lodge. Ruaha National Park (10.300km²) is the most visited National Park in the southern part of Tanzania. Due to its size and the fact that the South of Tanzania is less visited than the northern parks, you still have ample of space and you will see hardly any safari vehicles. Ruaha National Park forms a border between Africa’s eastern and southern eco- system. Here you will find kudus, which you will find seldom further north and during the same time you can see grant gazelles which reach their southernmost breeding area. The source of life in the park is doubtless the Great Ruaha River with its huge numbers of crocodiles and hippos.

After breakfast, we head for a game drive en route back to Mikumi. This is to make our way to the Selous Game Reserve the following day as Mikumi is bordered to the south with the Selous Game Reserve, the two areas forming a unique ecosystem.

After breakfast, we head towards the Selous Game Reserve through Matemwe gate. After Morogoro, you will leave the tar road and drive along the Uluguru Mountains through remote villages. Depending on our time of arrival, we can go on a short game drive or you can spend this day relaxing in your lodge and to prepare for 2 full days of safari in this reserve.

Selous Game Reserve is the biggest wildlife conservation area in Africa and forms together with the bordering Mikumi and Udzungwa National Parks an area which is as big as Switzerland! Today, you drive through the northern part of the reserve which is open for photo safaris. On the way, you have plenty of time for unique wildlife encounters in this unspoiled environment. Besides the typical residents of the African bush, you can spot up to 400 different bird species. However, it is not always easy to see the animals and birds because of the dense vegetation. Optional Activities such as walking in the wilderness or boat cruise can be arranged at extra cost.

After breakfast, we drive towards the Indian Ocean through Mtemere Gate and at around noon you will reach Dar Es Salaam. Transfer to airport or hotel at your own arrangement.

His lectures gave us a deeper understanding and love of the land. Albert is also very funny and always makes us laugh with his jokes. His care and enthusiasm filled our journey with warmth and joy. We are very grateful to him for creating such wonderful memories for us and look forward to coming back to Tanzania again!”

5.00We spent 10 days in 4 locations and each camp was wonderful. Our guide was Francis and he was exceptional. It’s clear that he is working his passion. He seemed to know just where the game was and how long to be patient. We saw an amazing wildebeest crossing as well as a close encounter with elephants on our very first day. Francis is also totally focused on the client’s every need. We felt so pampered. And he is totally fun! Camps were much nicer than expected and the food was great. Hot lunches and beer/wine every lunch. I understand why Gosheni gets great reviews.

5.00We came to Tanzania at the end of the rainy season in May. The guide who received us was Calvin Kileo. He is a very professional guide. During the ten-day Safari, he took us to find many animals every day. He not only took us to find the Big Five in Africa, but also showed us many birds and reptiles. He has a rich knowledge of animals and a very kind attitude. He takes good care of us in terms of food, clothing, housing and transportation. He is very gentle and has good driving skills and a strong learning ability. I only need to teach him the Chinese names of many animals once and he can learn them. He always responds to our requests and brings us many surprises! Chinese friends can come to him. He is a very good guide. Remi, the chef at the Gosheni Center, is also very professional and cooks very delicious food. The vegetables are very tasty and the soup is also delicious! I like it very much!

5.00We just completed a terrific week with Edward as our driver-guide. Did the Tanzania northern circuit (Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater, and Serengeti). Gosheni did a superb job of putting our itinerary together, then bringing it to fruition. With stays at three different lodges, everything went off without a hitch, and we met all our sighting/photo goals and then some. Edward was extremely knowledgeable and a great companion for the week. He was very patient with our countless questions! Thanks to Herman and the team at Gosheni. Highly recommended.
Wonderful safari through the South of Tanzania

5.00We came to Gosheni Safaris through internet research not knowing they are the Award Winning and Leading Tour Operator of Tanzania in 2021. We were on a 11 days, 10 nights safari through the South of Tanzania guided by the the wonderful Fidelis, an experienced and thoughtful guide for a perfect safari tour. After finishing the safari we can only confirm that Gosheni Safaris, presented by Fidelis and team, were the right choice! The safari was customized to all we wanted to see and organized very well, considering we booked only few days in advance (thanks to Pendo in the Gosheni Office!)! Fidelis introduced us to the wildlife in the South of Tanzania with a lot of background information and a very good eye for the hidden animals in the distance! Even though it was very dry and a difficult situation for most of the animals, he showed us neraly every animal living in Mikumi/Ruaha/Nyere. With his experience and the respectful and peaceful way to treat the wilderness he made our game drives a wonderful tour! The accomodation was well chosen, Fidelis organized cool drinks for us to survive the heat and adapted to the tour daily to our needs and wishes. For the next trip to Tanzania we will not have to make an effort to find the right tour operator, we will simply call Gosheni Safaris, because it was a blast to travel with you. Thanks again to Gosheni and especially to Fidelis! Asante sana!

5.00I had a fantastic trip with Gosheni Safaris ( it was a shorter 6 day safari to Mikumi and Ruaha national Parks only, in my case). It was a highlight of my 3 months in Tanzania, and a very last minute decision as well. I had already visited Serengeti and Ngorongoro beforehand, and was thinking of seeing more of the country before I leave. Everything from the start to the end worked perfectly. Pendo from reservations handled my inquiry quickly and very efficiently, so we managed to have everything organised in less than a week! I am especially grateful for timely communications and updates, and exemplary customer service. Everything was well organised, with excellent choice of accommodation and daily activities in the both parks. I have been very lucky to have Gabriel as my guide - his professionalism, dedication to his work, local knowledge and a true passion for nature and conservation is impressive. Plus phenomenal knowledge of wildlife ( especially birds as it is what I was very interested in) and exceptional observation skills, on my own I would not have seen a tenth of what we saw. He is very friendly and a great company to have during the trip. Generally, I will highly recommend to visit both Ruaha and Mikumi. Although not as well known as Serengeti and Ngorongoro, both places are spectacular and give you an experience of true wilderness and pristine nature. It is definitely worth going a bit off beaten track to see them. I will be booking another trip with Gosheni Safaris soon, to see more remote and less visited places in Tanzania. If you are looking for a reliable and very professional operator to give you the best of Tanzania no matter what your adventure is, look no further than Gosheni Safaris.
