Since Mongolia has an extreme climate with four seasons, nomads choose best pastures to live on and raise their livestock depending on their given circumstances. During the summer, many nomadic families set up their felt homes called ger near rivers. Today we will continue cycling along the Tamir River. You will see that the Mongolian nomadic lifestyle has not changed much for hundreds of years expect for a few modern technological tools that come in handy with their daily chores. From about 35th km, the scenery will become hillier. Even though today’s distance is only 24 km, the first 10 km is a climb. Then we continue on with easy pedaling through Orkhon valley and reach Kharkhorin, which is a newer town named after the old capital of the Mongol Empire. The site of the original capital is nearby, although not much remained after its destruction and the ruins was used in the 16th century for construction of Erdene Zuu monastery, which is the main attraction here nowadays. The monastery complex suffered almost complete destruction during the Communist Purges of the 1930ies, only a few temples and surrounding walls with stupas survived. Kharkhorum was a multi-cultural capital, center of trade and exchange of ideas along the Silk Road connecting eastern and western cultures during the 13th century. In 1220, Chinggis Khan founded Kharkhorum and it was completed during the reign of his second son and successor Ugudei Khan in 1235. Stay overnight at tourist ger camp.

I spent unforgettable days cycling in the Orkon valley. The competence and professionalism of our Chuka guide, as well as of the entire group in support of our holiday, were the basis of the perfect success of each day. Suki cooked excellent dishes for us. Really congratulations on the perfect organization. Dashka was available from the first contact to provide all information relating to the trip. A reliable, precise and highly recommended organization.

Our journey through the nomadic villages of Mongolia was simply unforgettable, and we have Dashka and his amazing crew to thank for it. From the very beginning, they were attentive, responsive, and eager to accommodate our requests, no matter how big or small. Their warmth and genuine hospitality made us feel so well cared for throughout the trip. Every detail was thoughtfully managed, which allowed us to relax and fully enjoy the adventure. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience that exceeded all expectations and will stay with me forever. I cannot recommend them highly enough to anyone considering a trip to Mongolia.

Had my best mountain biking and cultural experience in Mongolia. Route was amazingly planned, you can really get to see the amazing landscape in the full ride. Living in the Ger camp was beyond my expectations, not only I get to experience how the mongol lives, but is has given so much hospitality and convenience throughout the ride. And last but not least, our guides and the support crews were so supportive and helpful.

Cannot rate the trip highly enough, from dealing with Dashka when booking the tour through to the end, it was well organised and focused on providing great service. During the trip, our crew were amazing and were always willing to help meet our needs, and the food was beyond my expectation (excellent and you will not go hungry). The scenery is awesome and roads, if you can call them that, are tougher that I thought but that’s part of the adventure. Overall, an EXCELLENT ADVENTURE.

Had an absolutely wonderful time in Mongolia with this trip. The iternary was catered to out group and travel time. We were taken care of from the time we arrived at the airport to our flight out. We had a mix of cultural events and sight seeing locations mixed with the mountain biking rides. We were well supported with 2 vehicles and 5 crew members with our group of 5. The food was absolutely amazing. Chef was top notch with a mix of traditional Mongolian cusines to western catered tastes. The operation seems to be a smaller outfit and doesn't have much of the larger corporate restrictions on flexibility. This meant they were able to adjust as needed to the plan and cater to the events, weather, road conditions and other possible issues. The communication was good, but just functional enough to make sure the plan/itinerary was executed. In other words, don't be expecting a Rick Steve's to guide you on your rides. However I cannot speak highly enough of how the crew took care of us. One of our riders had their wallet stolen in the city and the guide went out of his way to support him with the police and reports. This is a top notch team if you want an intimate experience with Mongolia.
